It's so much fun, it’s a real nod to old Steps, but it works so well alongside What The Future Holds.

Their hotly anticipated sixth album What The Future Holdsalbum will be available on all digital platforms plus CD, Vinyl (including a limited edition transparent pink edition) and Cassette (including a special collector’s box with five separate transparent pink solo cassettes with an intro from each band member). With the majority of us having not been able to leave our homes for a large part of the last 18 months or so, it’s taken some coaxing to get people to go back to doing what they loved pre-pandemic. Promotional tracks "Under My Skin", "Hold My Heart" and "To the Beat of My Heart" were also released, the latter becoming the album's third single in January 2021. What the Future Holds is the sixth studio album by the British group Steps and was their first album to be released with their new record label BMG on 27 November 2020. was mashed up with ‘Groove Is In The Heart’ for a 60s twist, ‘Better The Devil You Know’ featured elements of Madonna’s ‘Vogue’ as the group paid homage to the bands and artists they rose to fame with in the 90s, and ‘Something In Your Eyes’ sounded much grander live with a harder beat and a devilishly catchy chorus.

Harrison Smith of Gigwise shared the same opinion stating, "whilst the group may have a staple sound, they are more than willing to adapt to current trends.

If What The Future Holds represented the future for Steps, then the current single, Something In Your Eyes, gleefully celebrates the past via a classic, ABBA-esque chorus, a joyous key change and a brilliantly unexpected staggered outro. We will never forget the past with Steps, it's what made us,” says Steps, “ but we've got to look to the future too.

Last night the five piece – Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Lee Latchford Evans, Lisa Scott Lee and Ian ‘H’ Watkins – brought the tour to the AO Arena in Manchester for the first of two nights. Faye’s voice soared on a stripped back version of ‘Heartbeat’, that was dedicated to a couple in the audience that were getting married the next day, and Lisa sounded incredible on a regal themed ‘It’s the Way You Make Me Feel’. musicOMH 's Nick Smith described the album as "bold and brilliant," saying "it’s rather refreshing to hear Steps revelling so exultantly in the unashamedly feel-good aspect of their sound. Chatting about the release, Steps said: "We were so proud of our What The Future Holds Live tour and we’re excited for those who came to watch to be able to relive the show again. The group performed 24 songs over the duration of the set with multiple costume changes and plenty of choreography for fans to join in with (and boy, did they join in).

Steps had originally planned to announce the release of the album and its accompanying What the Future Holds Tour earlier in the spring of 2020, however the global outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown restrictions resulted in a temporary pause to the promotional campaign to Autumn, when the group announced that they could no longer keep the project a secret. Fans were treated to a half-hour set from Sophie Ellis-Bextor as they arrived into the arena and found their seats, and a simple glance at the thousands of people in attendance showed that people were delighted to be back enjoying live music with the masses.Lee was not present for the recording of the concert due to Covid-19 but the band incorporated footage recorded for the tour screens at an earlier performance to capture the show with the whole band. One For Sorrow’, one of the group’s signature hits, was the second song in the set list and it escalated an already excited audience to a whole new level.
