Description

A dehumidifier's size or capacity describes how many litres of water it's able to extract from the air each day (which is different to the water tank capacity). This dehumidifier is quiet enough to be placed on your bedside table whilst you sleep and has an auto off function to avoid water overflow. The device can minimize the humidity by means of the temperature in the room, you can enter the desired humidity percentage yourself or it can be set to automatic mode. It has a tray capacity of 900ml, and the clear design means you can see when the water needs to be emptied.

One thing we really love is the inclusion of a timer, so, when it’s running in the bedroom, it can be timed to switch off just before bedtime and then start back up again in the morning. When the device is switched on and used, the moisture content percentage will be shown on the front via LED. But getting mould out of a wardrobe can be a nightmare: you can’t just set to it with bleach and a stiff-bristled brush, as you could damage the wood. Another great feature of this dehumidifier is it has an auto-stop feature when the tank is full, so you can leave this running when you’re not around and have no worries about it overflowing. Wheels/castors These could come in useful if your dehumidifier is heavy – they can weigh from 6kg to more than 16kg.It does have an option for continuous draining but just note that it doesn’t come with a water tube (this needs to be purchased separately). It’s an excellent dehumidifier for larger spaces and, unlike most compressor models, will work at temperatures of between 5 and 25°C.

We run the same test in colder conditions as well - the sort of temperature you might expect in an unheated caravan or conservatory. When I put the heater on, it gets warm very quickly, but, as soon as I turn the heater off, the room cools down really quickly. Key specs – Dehumidifier type: Compressor; Tank size: 6l; Extraction rate: 20 litres per day; Dimensions: 59. They can also offer an eco-friendly alternative to a tumble drier, as they help dry your laundry faster by sucking the water out of your wet clothes, without releasing the moisture back into the room. They’re most efficient at warmer temperatures of 20°C and above, and your best bet if you need to remove lots of moisture from a larger space. It works by encouraging air to circulate and flow through a tablet similar in design to a dishwasher tablet. And while there’s no timer, you do get a laundry mode and a choice of quiet and turbo functions, and the rotary control is – as advertised – simple and easy to use. The filter will need to be changed – how often will depend on how much moisture it pulls from the air, but you’ll see when the change needs to happen. We really loved the setting that can help dry paint and plaster, so, if you’re about to embark on some DIY, this is the dehumidifier for you. Some models also have a more nuanced auto setting, where the machine adjusts its settings according to its idea of the most appropriate relative humidity.

Dehumidifiers are a cost-effective and straightforward way of making your home feel drier and more comfortable. There’s also a safety feature designed into the lid, so children’s fingers won’t get caught if they investigate it. and as it can take up to 10l of excess moisture out of the air daily, you shouldn’t have to constantly empty the tank unless your space is suffering from high humidity. Dehumidifiers work by removing any excess water from the air and lowering humidity levels, which can get rid of pollutants, mould, damp and allergens.

Can set timer, wheel the dehumidifier around as it’s on castors, set different dehumidifying levels and all of the controls can be done remotely by app on the phone. Plus, it’s very economical, as it has a hydrophilic coating that can collect up to 40 per cent more water without using any extra power. The first button lets you cycle through the target humidity in five per cent increments from 40 to 70 per cent. Humidity sensor – Clever dehumidifiers have humidity sensors and only absorb moisture until it has reached the humidity level you set. One of the best things about this dehumidifier is that you can control it from your phone via the HomeWizard Climate app.

The electricity required to power a dehumidifier can be generated from a mixture of burning fossil fuels, renewables, gas and nuclear. It’s good at its job, too, taking the humidity level in our test room down from 72% to 48% within an hour, though only reaching 46% with another hour to play with. Plus, there’s an automatic switch-off function, so there’s no need to worry if you leave it running when you’re not around. We tested it by leaving it next to our old double-glazed windows, which are prone to condensation, and also in the bathroom, and we were shocked by how much water it collected in a short space of time.
