Serpentera is absolutely massive and more powerful than any Zord in the series, which begs the question. Why even have something like that in the first place? Then you realize Serpentera is a war Zord. It wasn't built for the comparatively small-scale one-on-one battles but for large scale combat. In other words, Serpentera is designed to take on entire armies (and even whole planets if necessary). The movie has a darker, more serious tone for most of it, then it turns the point where it becomes what Power Rangers is known for. Why? Simple: these Rangers take awhile to get to the point where they're truly worthy of the title - not just strength-wise, but character-and-teamwork wise. The moment this happens, all the original show's elements start appearing; not before, since symbolically they weren't Power Rangers just yet. Or the names are perfectly normal or less on-the-nose in their native language and coincidentally ridiculous in English, ala Sinestro. Or for a more literally down-to-Earth example, how fahkel is a Russian word for torch.

When Trini the Yellow Ranger reveals herself to her family, her mother tells her to pee in a cup. Pee... is yellow. That also make sense in context of the movie: the Rangers are keeping Rita from obtaining the Zeo Crystal, which sustains all life on Earth. In Season 1, all of the Zords are based off of real dinosaurs or prehistoric beasts... except for the Dragonzord. This doesn't seem to make sense... until you realize that, up until the past couple centuries, dinosaur fossils were believed to be the bones of dragons! The Mastodon and Triceratops Zords having more legs than their OG counterparts makes sense from a scientific point of view. The physics involved here are the same reason sideshow performers can lie down on beds of nails or swords and not get hurt. Multiple points of support spread out equally means less pressure on each leg joint. This also means less weight, relatively speaking, on the ground for each step taken. Ninjor's Ninja Coins and Zords trump the originals. This makes sense when you realize he made the originals thousands of years ago. The Ninja Coins and Zords are stronger because Ninjor is thousands of years more experienced than he was when he made the originals. Lord Zedd's name makes sense when you realize, the letter Z is pronounced 'zed' in just about every country but the US.

The Megazord isn't a built-in feature of the Zords this time around, given that Zordon and Alpha don't mention it and Rita is completely dumbfounded when it happens. However, the Zords still merge, why? Alpha stated that their power was unlimited (and thus, it can't possibly be known everything they can do) and that they resembled the most dominant force on the planet they inhabited. When they first appeared, it was dinosaurs; now, they use some of their still unknown powers to combine into the current dominant species of Earth: Humans. The Zeo Crystal being so near must have helped them around too.The very thought that Serpentera once belonged to Zordon. Exactly why would he need something of that much destructive power? What evil could've been so dangerous that it required the creation of a robot capable of destroying entire planets? The lode of gold that is being mined in the present day could very well be the remains of Goldar after his defeat in the Cenozoic. In which case, he is largely made of himself. The amount of fan anticipation may just be people excited about the original Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers getting a reboot, but it's hard to not consider this idea: part of the fan anticipation may also be that, for longtime Power Ranger fans, there's no Super Sentai series to give clues to what could be coming or even a sort of early preview for the Ranger and Zord fights (for example, using Shuriken Sentai Ninninger as a sort of preview for Power Rangers Ninja Steel). In "Calamity Kimberly", after the Rangers are curbstomped by the Samurai Fan Man, Zordon tells them to use their zords to crush the Fan Man while he was still small. You'd think it'd go against his "never escalate a fight" rule but 'escalating' doesn't only refer to making a monster giant, it can also refer to a monster being too powerful for any of their ground weapons to handle. When they finally fought him in their zords when he was giant, they didn't stand a chance, not only were the individual zords overpowered but so was the Dragonzord Battle Mode, which had to use its finisher to cut the monster's jug loose. The Megazord and Dragonzord also fared poorly, with the Ultrazord needed to win the day.
