They all come ready for sun and alcohol soaked adventures, but the different things that are revealed along the way--some in public and some privately--will shake the group to their core. On the other hand, I couldn't figure out who the victim was going to be, and I was completely surprised by who it was.But, nope, next chapter — and there are 98 of them in this book, which should give you an indication of how short most of them are — that character didn’t die. years later while they are remembering her son’s death, Jacob, the son that had been found goes missing once again. The story starts slowly, but as the true natures of these women are revealed, the pace does pick up. While this was intended to be a suspenseful, twisty read, the despicability of the characters and Bella in particular, made this less so, at least for me.

Instead, Clarke relies on gratuitous flashback sequences when she needs to explain or clarify something. As an author, she never gets to completely switch off as everything she does and everything that happens around her can be an inspiration for her next work.She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors, so when I was approved to read Clarke's latest novel, I was over the moon with glee. I loved that the bachelorette (or should I say "hen" party) takes place on a fictional Greek Island (always wanted to go to Greece), but the writing and storyline always felt distant to me. It went on to mention that it could be used in the bathroom, and I thought, "I really need to try this product on my bathtub. Someone is determined to make sure that Lexi’s marriage never happens – and that one of the women doesn’t leave the island alive. When the book opens with the characters wondering if their resort is too remote, you know the author is setting up something good.
