OLDER SIS GO TO LORI " YO I SAW YOU WITH OUR BROTHER LET GET YOU HELP, BRO WONT GET HELP IF HE WONT SPEAK UP" LORI" NOO NOO WAH WAH * PUSHES HER SISTER OFF A CLIFF AND NOW SHE HAS THE MENTAL CAPACITY OF A CHILD AND USES SHOULDER CRUTCHES TO WALK * She is ready to commit suicide, but is uncertain, then she becomes aware of one of those small, beautiful things in life, and it gives her temporary hope" To me that's her praying again. Asking god to give her that happiness and freedom she once felt. If her future holds more pain and sadness, she feels like this world is not meant for her. Edmund tells her she must go to his cabin in the woods of Killen and retrieve a key to deliver to a mysterious figure known only as The River Man.

Nada le resultará fácil a Lori en este viaje, y más teniendo en cuenta que debe llevarse a su hermana con ella. Abby es mayor que ella pero tiene algunos problemas que debéis descubrir leyendo esta oscura historia. Superb extreme horror writing that really delivers on providing a chilling and quite simply 'spine-tingling' experience in the grim and macabre world of the dark arts and beyond. Lori siente que no es tan distinta a él, algo le atrae, siente que no es ms que un ser incomprendido por la sociedad, como ella. the ban on feeling free"? well, everyone would commit suicide if we thought it was OK - if it wasn't sinful, or if our soul would simply melt away into heaven, right?DEXTER DUDE ESCAPE PRISON, LORI GIDDY HER KILLER BF IS FREE. SHE FINDS HIM NAKED WITH ANOTHER GIRLS HEAD ON HIS JUNK ( DONT NEED TO SAY WHAT HAPPENED THERE SO) HE SAY COME HERE , SHE GOES, GETS NAKED, HE GRABS A KNIFE ( A CLEAN ONE CAUSE YOU KNOW JUST BECAUSE HES A KILLER DOESNT MEAN CHIVALRY IS DEAD YOU KNOW?) I guess I can't be sure, but to me it makes a lot of sense that this song is about death or Thanatos or dwelling on mortality... River Man is the legendary guide on the River Styx who carries souls who have just entered the underworld into Hades. Lori is just such a fanatic. Her obsession is with Edmund Cox, a man of sadistic cruelty who butchered more than 20 women. She’s gone so far as to forge a relationship with him, visiting him in prison and sending him letters on a regular basis. She will do anything to get close to him, so when he gives her a task, she eagerly accepts it. To me that means she wasn't sure of whether or not she way ready for her life to end. She wants to stay, but at the same time she feels she isn't happy anymore. LORI AND HER BROTHER KEEP DEVILS TANGOING. HE WANTS TO STOP, SHE FORCES HIM TO CONTINUE AND THREATS TO TELL THEIR PARENTS. THE BROTHER SHUTS DOWN MENTAL * NO EATING NOTHING COMPLETELY WITHDRAWS FROM LIFE*

LORI IS JEALOUS OF HER OLDER SISTER AND WANTS THE LOVE THAT SHE DOESNT HAVE FROM ANYONE BECAUSE HER SISTER STOLE HER " CRUSH" AND HER SISTER IS THE ALL AROUND PERFECT GIRL AND STUFF ETC ETC

As the story progresses and the intimacy between Lori and Edmund grows, he eventually asks her to go on an errand and she accepts. She sees his request as a test of her love and loyalty.

What I liked: Triana is a Splatterpunk Award winner writing, so you know immediately that things will not be pretty. And while there are moments of beauty, sentences showing true love between characters, ‘Gone to See the River Man’ is at its core a story covered in rust and rot.LORI SO DESPERATE FOR P3N1S AND LOVE SHES ATTACHES HERSELF TO A SERIAL KILLER SHE MET THROUGH PENPAL CRAP AND GO TO SEE THE RIVER MAN BECAUSE THE BF TOLD HER TO RETURN A KEY. HER SISTER " NOOOO DONT WEAVE ME NOOO SISSY DONT WEAVE ME LIKE PETEY (BROTHER) DID* LORI IS FORCED TO TAKE HER SISTER ALONG It is clear that Lori, the main character, is highly damaged. “Wanting to please a man, despite how difficult it was for her personally… well, if that wasn’t love, what was?” She believes that Edmund is meant for her, meant to be with her and love her, and that his murderous needs can be overlooked. She makes excuses for him and it is painful to behold, “What most would see as cruelties were actually signs of the deepest affections he could muster. Violence was his love letter. Death was all his soul.” I thought the setting could save it; deep forests with oldie blues overtones that, in other works (namely, Christopher Buehlman's Those Across the River) are written far better than here. I CAN NOT BELIEVE I WASTED PRECIOUS TIME ON THIS BOOK. AND I KNEW IT GOING IN THAT IT MIGHT BE A LET DOWN SO I ACTIVELY LOOKED FOR SPOILERS. AND NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO EVEN DO THAT CORRECTLY SO FOR THOSE WHO MAY GO INTO THIS AND ARE OVERLY BORED AND WANT PROPER SPOILERS. YOUVE COME TO THE RIGHT GIRL, CAUSE I HAVE TIME TODAY It's like the famous Shakespearean soliloquay about "To Be or Not To Be," where Hamlet considers suicide if it weren't for the mystery of "What dreams may come" - what follows death? and could it be worse than life?

After acquiring and binge-reading his latest novel, GONE TO SEE THE RIVER MAN, I can now confidently recommend the works of Kristopher Triana to anyone who will listen. This book has teeth and I’m not talking about a story that scratches at the surface and causes a little discomfort. When I say teeth, I mean words that penetrate beyond what is tolerable, inducing extreme, lasting pain.Having already proved himself a master of extreme horror with Full Brutal, in Gone To See The River Man, Triana shows he is able to paint his uniquely disturbing visions with a much broader palette. This gloomily atmospheric novel is an excellent and unnerving exercise in steadily mounting dread and an inexorable rendezvous with doom. It fuses family tragedy with phantasmagoric horror in a way that will linger long in memory. In short, this Triana guy is a serious contender.” THE OLDER SISTER KILLS ONE OF THE UNNECESSARY CHARCTERS TO HELP LORI BECAUSE " LORI WANTS TO BANG HER BF (THE KILLER") AND LORI PROMISED SHED MAKE HER SISTER A MOH AT THE WEDDING IF HER AND HER SERIAL KILLER GET MARRIED Perhaps also borrowed from Shakespeare is this idea of "lilac time," which sounds like a reference to Ophelia, who killed herself in a fit of madness. The story is built upon two split narratives around 25 years apart, the focus of both is Lori, who is just about to turn 40 in the present-day story. Lori has a rather morbid hobby, she writes to serial killers and has an impressive collection of letters from previous correspondences. When the story begins, she is on the way to prison to meet Edmund Cox. Lori is in love with Edmund, even though she knows he has tortured and killed many women, with a special fondness for those from the Far East. As the story unfolds, some of the letters, written by both Lori and Edmund, are dropped into the story. When the pair meet, Edmund gives Lori a mission, or a test, and this lies at the dark core of Gone to See the River Man. Edmund tells her she must go to his cabin in the woods of Killen and retrieve a key to deliver to a mysterious figure known only as The River Man.
