I once hid a whole ripe Brie under the dashboard of someone's Transit over a long hot Bank holiday weekend. The conclusion many arrived at is that the truly original Feu Orange, would be far too dangerous to produce in the more enlightened times we are living in now and couldn't possibly be supplied with a pin, and potential seepage of the highly concentrated liquid essence stripping paint from Volkswagen dashboards. Back in the day my Dad worked for Polco and was responsible for bringing the Feu Orange to the UK so you can thank him for the memories and the stained dashboards from leaky air fresheners. I saw that there was an attempt to do a pin-less version with a plastic puncturing tool but that never sold as well.

Might apeal to those who love their fake carbon, but to anyone wanting the retro look of the original. If I could find a stash of these beauties I'd snap them up in an instant, that smell is authentic motoring yesteryear. Having had a certain brand of modern liquid car air freshener that leaked and melted an airvent and damaged the radio surround, never again will I go near one of them. We found that the tiny trial tins of Coca Cola were the best next to the checkout because it made the cans pee a fine stream of sticky pop nobody could see. They are a small scented gel stick that clips on behind the tiny plastic traffic light and slots into your air vent.
