Yesterday we went down to the Transport Research Laboratory to look at the brand new Axissfix Air; the world’s first car seat with built in airbags and see the 2-year long journey Maxi Cosi have taken to develop this innovative car seat. The Axiss’ colour indicators show parents when the seat has been safely returned to the correct position for travel. The Axiss features 8 different reclining positions, from an upright to sleep mode. Each position can be easily selected with the lever on the front of the seat. It's also a legal requirement for a child to be in an appropriate seat until 12 years old, or 135cm in height, whichever comes first. Don’t forget that the Axissfix Air can rearward face to approximately 2 years old which we would always recommend however when tested forward facing against other Maxi Cosi forward facing seat, the Axissfix Air is 55% safer.Its design enables parents to seat their child securely without leaning over. Frequently Asked Questions about Maxi-Cosi Axiss Car Seat

R44 groups 0+ (birth to 13 kg), 1 (9 to 18 kg), or 2/3 (15 to 36 kg) are based on your child’s weight, not height and are suitable for children from birth up to 12 years old. In accordance with the law, your baby must travel rearward-facing for at least 9 months. However, R44/04 products are going to be phased out in the future and i-Size will become the standard for car seats. Read more about ECE R44. R129/i-Size is the latest standard that has been introduced. This legislation focuses on the height of your child and not the weight when choosing the right car seat. Most experts recommends that your little one travels rearward-facing for at least 15 months, due to the strength of the muscles. Just like other car seats in the Axissfix family, the Axissfix Air is suitable from 4 months old and is to be installed rearward facing in your car using the Isofix and top tether connection. The Axissfix Air allows rearward facing travel up to 87cm which is approximately 2 years old and after this age, the seat will rotate to a forward-facing position to be used to 4 years old. You can also rest assured that the Axissfix Air complies with the latest iSize legislation and in the rearward facing position, your little one is as safe as possible. So, what is different about this seat? The seat includes side protection to keep the child safe in case of a sudden impact. The Maxi-Cosi Axiss is easy to install, using the car's seatbelt, and the child is secured using a 5-point harness. The car seat also rotates 90 degrees for easy accessibility, making it convenient for parents during loading and unloading. The price could be a little lower as I think many families won't be able to afford this car seat but for me, saftey comes first and as mentioned above, the seat if used over four years means the seat isn't too costly (as long as you're not involved in an accident in the meantime!).
