I see that many reviewers here loath the huge kick of oregano, but that, with pimento, gives Interlude Man its sweet but vegetal uplift from the start. But in my opinion: It smells like you're entering a cemetery, and it's raining incense sticks from the sky.

My own varied experiences with the fragrance should underscore the obvious fact that Interlude is a fragrance that you need to test a number of times.As we move into the basenotes I'm smelling a smoky incense with a slight sweet amber mixed in with the "kitchen spice accord" which has mellowed at this stage. It's nickname, “The Blue Beast,” even if it's been reformulated, weakened, is reason enough to cause one to doubt and question what determines their tastes and what demographic they too make up. At the same time, it's a very intriguing smell, so it welcomes the right kind of company (close friends or loved ones). Frankincense and Myrrh traditionally smell spiritual and religious but in Interlude, they have been reconstructed to feel contemporary yet sophisticated. The Frankincense note mingles with the Amber note, which to my nose creates this muted sweet dark berry nuance.

I must say for what it is, this is a really well made perfume and i can see why people will appreciate this as an art. It will shock you how this beast projects and after some hours will even bother you as the scent does not settle down. With such thoughts one learns to be able to decide emotionally what applies to one and what does not. Went to lunch with only two sprays on, and had to wash it off due to complaints of it being much too overpowering. I think Interlude is extremely masculine and rich, and can be worn any day and night with mild and cool temperatures and more social or sophisticated outfits.

There is a certain charred spice quality mixed with leathery facets really pushed forward because of how smooth and sweet balsamic ambery the backdrop is. The general public tends to prefer sweeter scents, but it can get complicated when combined with a smoky or balsamic element. But it's also vastly more expensive and only something I would recommend to real frag-heads or people for whom money is no object.
