It turns out Earl Grey isn’t just for tea-lovers. The Canberra Distillery have collaborated with the HerCanberra team to create a French Earl Grey Gin. Similar to vodka, gin is made by distilling a neutral grain alcohol from grapes, wheat, barley, or some other fruit or grain. Here’s where it deviates from vodka though. It’s then infused with herbs and botanicals, and fruits like juniper berries, orange peels, coriander, and angelica root. Tours are currently operating from groups (a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 12), although this looks set to change in 2020.

Never Never opened their new space in March 2020, sharing it with Chalk Hill Wines. There is a beautiful outdoor space, still room, tasting room and spectacular bar with former Baxter Inn Manager, Stuart ‘Chewy’ Morrow at the helm. Is gin gluten-free?

Although it’s divisive – you’ll definitely have at least one mate who hates it with a passion – the Myrcene Hemp Gin is small-batch crafted in Healesville and helps cut through the Myrcene essential oil, which is the most abundant terpene in cannabis, by using lavender, pine forest and sage along with more woodland flavours like rosemary, resin, cloves and woody spices. And the world is starting to take notice. Australian gins are earning double-gold medals and being crowned best in class at both local and international spirits competitions. Australian makers are being named master distillers and Australian brands are being recognised as global leaders of innovation, sustainability and even contemporary style.Never Never Distilling Co has really emerged as one of Australia’s MVPs over the past few years, managing more than just a few international awards and putting forth some of the best gins the country has ever showcased on a world stage. From the special releases like the latest Dark Series Oyster Shell Gin, a celebration of Australia’s coastline worked up in collaboration with Melbourne’s Society Restaurant, to the classic Tripe Juniper Gin, Never Never Distilling Co offers plenty for gin lovers to get across. Diane: " Australian's typically like to 'have a go' at almost anything, so re-working traditional flavours to create their own version is becoming a national sport!" Our gins have tasting notes which are subtle, bold, elegant, smooth and rich, depending on your palette. We’re a spirited lot ourselves, and each of us has a range of personal favourites.
