Once the marshmallows have set up a little bit, lift the parchment paper up and out of the baking dish Decorating

When it comes to making rice krispie treats, the answer to how many jumbo marshmallows to use really depends on how big or small you want your final product to be. If you’re looking to make a large batch of treats, then you’ll need to use more marshmallows than if you’re only making a small amount. Generally speaking, you’ll need about 3-4 jumbo marshmallows for each rice krispie treat you want to make. So, if you’re looking to make a dozen rice krispie treats, you’ll need to use 36-48 jumbo marshmallows. Of course, the best way to figure out how many marshmallows you need is to simply experiment and see what works best for you. Start with a small batch and add more marshmallows as needed until you get the consistency and size that you’re looking for. Gently transfer the Rice Krispie mixture to the 9x13-inch buttered baking dish. To get the Rice Krispies perfectly flat, run a piece of parchment paper over the top of the dish. Colored Sprinkles. These are completely optional. I like the pop of color and texture that they add. I prefer nonpareils here, but Zach doesn’t like the extra crunchiness of them. Regular sprinkles/jimmies would be less obvious texture-wise, so use whichever best suits your own preferences (or leave them out entirely!). You could also use chocolate sprinkles or make your own homemade sprinkles.Melt butter in a large saucepan. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows (minus that cup) and stir until the marshmallows are beginning to melt. My Perfect Rice Krispie Treats recipe is one of my favorites. This recipe has been used on the internet for years and is even featured in my book. Because this recipe contains the most marshmallow, it is the best rice krispie treat recipe. Rice Krispie Treats can be stored for up to 3 days if left out properly. After wrapping the pan tightly in plastic wrap, cut it so that it is completely open on the day you serve it. Because the krispie treats are difficult to eat, keep them in the refrigerator rather than store them. Get Perfect Rice Crispy Treats Every Time!

Vanilla Extract: This is an easy addition that turns a good rice krispie treat into a great rice krispie treat. You only need 1/2 teaspoon, but what a difference it makes! Homemade vanilla extract is excellent here. Put the butter and marshmallows in a pan (big enough for you to get all those Rice Krispies in later!)

Don’t Press Them Too Firmly into the Pan: It’s very important that you lightly press your Rice Krispie treats into your pan. If you press too hard, your Rice Krispies will become very dense and hard. If you are gentle and just get them to form into the shape of the pan, they will stay light and fluffy! Let it cool off enough for the marshmallows to harden a little bit, so when you lift it up out of the pan it won’t fall apart Change ingredients: you could make special diet treats like dairy free treats, coconut oil treats or healthy treats - just use different ingredients, but the same amounts below. Salt: Salt is another little flavor enhancer I add to my rice krispie treats. Like vanilla extract, salt is a super convenient ingredient you already have in your kitchen, and you don’t need much of it. Just a pinch adds a depth of flavor otherwise absent from crispy rice treats.

Crispy Rice Cereal: you can use Kellogg’s Rice Krispies or whatever store brand you have. Cocoa Krispies or Fruity Pebbles are also always a fun twist! Take it off the heat and stir in the remaining 2 cups of mini marshmallows and the rice krispies until everything is evenly coated with marshmallow. The chocolate sprinkles are optional but I just liked the added texture on the hair! And if you want to use chocolate frosting instead of melted chocolate that will work too! Melted chocolate is just easy for me because I always have melts on hand. I just zap them in the microwave and I have the perfect melted chocolate for fun candy things like this.

Consider this: It may seem unusual to incorporate sweetened condensed milk into homemade Rice Krispies treats. However, it truly revolutionizes this traditional delicacy. By combining it with the butter and marshmallow blend, the sweetened condensed milk imparts an additional creamy taste and incredibly gooey consistency. One of the many great things about this class dessert is that they don’t have to be beige! You can use this recipe as the base for many fun and creative and colorful Rice Krispie Treat desserts.
