The 4-metre cable is long enough to be trailed neatly through door seals and around the windscreen for a very tidy installation. The alternative is a hard-wired wiring set up; hooking the power mount into the ignition circuit and keeping the wires out of sight. GPS data is plotted on a map along with G-forces, speeds travelled and lots of other very useful information. Proving very popular when trying to deal with your insurance company as this data is normally very hard to prove without such a technology. Then the Dash Cam will be visible as a removable drive on your computer. If you go into My Computer (Windows) or Finder (Mac) you will be able to see the Dash Cam listed as a drive, usually called NEXTBASE. Plug your Dash Cam in. Ensure the cable is plugged directly into the Dash Cam and NOT via the mount. The 412GW works like any other dash camera, switching on when it gets power and then automatically recording short clips until full. It then loops over old footage, so it’s always on. If the built-in G sensor detects something unusual, such as hard braking or a bump, it will mark the footage to be saved, so it won’t be recorded over.

The series 2 range of dashcams is the second generation of devices from Nextbase that were launched throughout 2019 and 2020. We’ll start by looking at a comparison table of the main features and then review each one below. Series 2 Comparison ChartPlug your Dash Cam in. Ensure the cable is plugged directly into the dash cam and NOT via the mount. It also has intelligent parking mode that will monitor your vehicle when not in use and record any movements it detects. We recommend the official Nextbase hardwire kit for this to prevent your battery from draining. The 122 is right at the lower end of the market and is a small, compact device that comes at a budget price. It has all of the essential features you need from a dashcam, including loop recording which writes over the footage you don’t need so you never need to delete the footage. If you need to keep footage, you can manually save it or the built in G-sensor can detect crashes and protect footage for you.

On the other hand, if you’re keen to record extremely high-quality, clear footage - for example, if you live in a busy town and are prone to encountering hazardous situations - then the extra cash isn't too much of a push. It’ll get you clearer, more fluid footage, which for a lot of dash cam buyers matters more than value - and it's still much cheaper than many inferior cameras. There are much cheaper cameras on the market. Nextbase also offer a range of other cameras which come in at a much lower price than this unit and have much the same qualities. If you need to record in a really good quality then this unit provides this in enormous abundance. The Nextbase 622GW offers the highest image quality of any dash cam currently on the market, providing stunning 4k recordings at 30fps. The image stabilisation system reduces vibrations from your vehicle and improves footage clarity, while the Super Slow Motion feature means that drivers can view recordings in 1080p HD at 120fps.

For added convenience, the 412GW has an automatic recording function that starts and stops recording as you drive. This eliminates the need for manual operation and ensures that you capture all important moments on the road. It also has a loop recording feature, which overwrites the oldest footage when the memory card is full, ensuring continuous recording without interruption. The built in GPS will continuously monitor you whilst driving, in the event you have an accident this information can prove vital to defend how fast you were travelling, whether you were at a standstill etc. It will keep a log of speed you are travelling in too and can provide valuable evidence you weren’t in the wrong should the worst happen. 3” LED screen: The unit can be used in 1080p mode if required. This will then record at a great rate of 60 frames per second which is double the speed of recording in 1440p resolution and will still give you the level of footage you would expect from a standard HD TV channel these days. GPS: Just like the in the photos, it looks great! It feels very well put together, hard wearing plastic make for a good looking unit with the buttons easily accessed on the rear of the unit. The 622GW includes a variety of useful features and world firsts. Extreme Weather Mode provides a clearer image in misty or foggy conditions, which is crucial when you’re driving in the winter or at night. What3words provides your exact location within three square metres without the need for a data connection, helping emergency services to find you in the event of an accident.

The Nextbase 412GW dash cam is one of the higher levels available in the Nextbase range. Providing Quad HD footage at a resolution of 1440p and great video quality thanks to recording in 30 frames per second. With a 140° viewing angle it can capture the entire road ahead. Image quality is excellent, even in low light conditions. The 412GW records in up to 1440P at 30 frames per second, but it’s perhaps at its best in 1080P at 60 frames per second, which provides extremely clear, crisp, fluid video. The range has been simplified slightly from the previous generation which offered WiFi and non-WiFi versions of the camera. In series 2, every device from the 322 upwards has both WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth. One big thing, there is no memory card supplied with the unit? So you will need to buy a separate Micro-SD card, remember the maximum on this unit is 32GB.
