Description

I just wish they would produce these maps on a smaller scale so they could fit in the little not so significant places but they still might be of interest. This Ordnance Survey Historical map and guide is a fascinating possession for the interested and enthusiastic historians of today. Surrounding the map are numerous panels providing further information including contact details of relevant organizations, photos, drawings and profiles, a glossary of archaeological terms, a chronological table placing British events in a wider historical context, reading recommendations, etc. An index to all sites is provided, with each monument named, giving the National Grid reference number. We like to know what's around us as we travel, and this map is a great incentive for taking the lesser-travelled roads.

Discover Britain's ancient past and famous historical events with this double-sided map that covers features from Palaeolithic and Mesolithic to the early middle ages. What I have found is that I have spent a great deal of time studying this map and its fascinating historical information. Ancient Britain’s sites, monuments and related museums overprinted on a large, double-sided present day map of the country at 1:625,000 from the Ordnance Survey, plus numerous panels, maps and photos providing extensive additional information.

Sage Page are also active members of the PCI Security Standards Council (SSC) that defines card industry global regulation.

Key sites of significant interest are highlighted using photographs, text and thumbnail mapping from the OS Landranger Map series.Map, mounted on cloth, is in very good condition; also bound in is a 36pp Foreword, Introduction and COmbined Index to North and South Sheets which is tanned with some spotting; card cover rather tanned with some marks and shelfwear. The primary reason I bought this map for is to quickly look up grid references through out the whole of the U. Any way to sum up its great but I do wonder why Ordnance Survey don't publish as a plain modern map without the historic layers, it would in my opinion be very useful addition to their fantastic range of maps. Sites can be pinpointed exactly using the grid reference number and the relevant 1:50 000 scale sheet number.
