I just wish they would produce these maps on a smaller scale so they could fit in the little not so significant places but they still might be of interest. This Ordnance Survey Historical map and guide is a fascinating possession for the interested and enthusiastic historians of today. Surrounding the map are numerous panels providing further information including contact details of relevant organizations, photos, drawings and profiles, a glossary of archaeological terms, a chronological table placing British events in a wider historical context, reading recommendations, etc. An index to all sites is provided, with each monument named, giving the National Grid reference number. We like to know what's around us as we travel, and this map is a great incentive for taking the lesser-travelled roads.

What I have found is that I have spent a great deal of time studying this map and its fascinating historical information. Any way to sum up its great but I do wonder why Ordnance Survey don't publish as a plain modern map without the historic layers, it would in my opinion be very useful addition to their fantastic range of maps.
