It is important that we continue to promote these adverts as our local businesses need as much support as possible during these challenging times. Dixie McNeil missed the remainder of the season through injury as Wrexham cruised to promotion but with 13 league goals in 23 appearances he had done more than his share in securing the title. A last-minute leveller at home to minnows Blyth Spartans meant another trip up north and back to St James’ Park where he scored in a 2-1 win. The supporters have come back in droves to watch the games; the players are doing a brilliant job on the pitch and the manager is thriving. We assist them in setting their prints free for future generations to access and appreciate them and their historical value.

Wrexham’s memorable title-winning 1977/78 season included a fabulous FA Cup adventure to the quarter-finals in a remarkable run that was dominated by replays and McNeil’s scoring exploits. Still a well known figure in the Wrexham area and with a brick bearing his name in the rebuilt stadium Dixie McNeil certainly qualifies as a club legend. They would only surrender this position for a brief spell just after Christmas and only then because their fantastic cup runs left them with a batch of fixtures to make up. I didn't remember it was only one season, but I think he was a bit of a rebel so perhaps our manager couldn't handle him. John told Wrexham I was on 50 per cent more than I was actually getting at Hereford so money-wise, I did pretty well out of the move! This disclaimer informs readers that the views, thoughts, and opinions expressed in the text belong solely to the author. The ability to comment on our stories is a privilege, not a right, however, and that privilege may be withdrawn if it is abused or misused. Signing from Leicester City in 1966, he scored eleven times in 31 league games for Exeter before continuing to score on a regular basis for Northampton, Lincoln, Hereford and Wrexham. We meet footballing celebrities too, such as Peter Shilton, Graham Taylor, George best, John Sillett and many more whom Dixie met. He knew when to shoot and when to use his head, or when to use some other part of his body if the need arose.

Being top goal scorer in the whole of the football league two seasons running is a fabulous thing; I still don’t know if anyone else has done it? McNeil is very much Mr Wrexham, and the present stability of the club, now in community ownership after a period of great uncertainty, and ably guided by player-manager Andy Morrell, who has continued the current success on the field of the previous manager Dean Saunders, gives McNeil enormous pleasure and real hope that Wales’s oldest league club can once again regain its rightful status.McNeil became Wrexham manager in 1985 winning the Welsh Cup and progressing to the European Cup Winners' Cup in his first season.

They had Bobby Charlton, David Herd, Besty and a lot more and they had won the European Cup (what is now the Champions League) two seasons before. They’d locked up the outside of the ground because it was full, and it was a tremendous place to play and thankfully we got the right result.SEE the BACKSIDE OF the PHOTO - many times the image for sale will present stamps, dates, and other publication details - these marks attest to and increase the value of the press photos. The third time, I headed the ball in from two yards out at the back post, everyone else seemed to miss it. After a spell as assistant manager at Coventry City, McNeil became a sales representative with Marston's Brewery, as well as reporting on Wrexham's games for local radio. Without setting the world on fire, as few do at Exeter, McNeil made a solid start with the Grecians and top scored for the club with 11 goals from 31 games.
