mm (0.16 inches) Exit Pupil: Bigger is better — ideally, larger than the diameter of your dark-adapted eye's pupil (varies with age). Of course, this choice is by carefully analysing and comparing each and every one of the features offered by each of the 20×80 binoculars, without taking into account, for example, the price, where this will really be one of the first determining factors in your choice, because obviously depending on the budget you have, you will be able to opt for one model or another. Nice set up there Kev - I like the idea of a pistol type grip. I have a traditional photo tripod, so might look into getting one of these!

The fully waterproof housing for use in all weather conditions provides peace of mind when unexpected weather rolls in. The housing is also filled with dry nitrogen gas to prevent the internal lenses from fogging when moving between extreme temperatures or when using the binocular in damp conditions. These binoculars, from Orion, are some of the best optics currently on the market for viewing the skies. Their large field of view and sturdy design makes these binoculars highly recommended by the professionals This second point leads us to the 80mm aperture. At 80mm this is fairly high. With aperture, it is simply the higher the better.

One of the most trusted brands on the market, these binoculars, from Celestron, offer magnificent views and craftsmanship at an unbeatable price. They are also designed with dry nitrogen gas which is brilliant from preventing the lenses from fogging in between temperature changes or when using them in cold or wet conditions. Enhanced Magnification They have huge objective lenses, BaK-4 prisms and fully multi-coated optics. At this price, you will not be able to find binoculars that provide as good a view. The eye relief is 18mm. This is the measurement of how far you can have your eye from the eyepiece and for glasses wearers you want this to be above 14mm.

Catching up with the hobby, for many years I lived on class 7+, so there was no reason for me to invest in gear. Now I live on a much smaller city but have limited space for a telescope, would have to throw away my wife's dozens of purses and exotic handbags ! The Skymasters are not Fully Multi Coated (only MC), so the big jump in quality at least would be that (I discarded larger Skymasters for this alone). This ensures excellent light-gathering ability, especially in low light conditions which makes them ideal for astronomical viewing. Hi Merlin - I honestly don't know the answer to that. I would hope not, as they are marketed as 80mm. I would feel pretty cheated if that were the case!!
