Description

Examine the splash guards’ performance in the rain to ensure water isn’t leaking in the seam between the gutter and the splash guard. To create your own, cut an appropriate piece of sheet metal using tin snips to fit the dimensions of your roof and guttering system. Sometimes, overflow can be caused by guttering that is simply too small to handle the volume of rainwater flowing from the roof.

The biggest limiting factor for people who would want to install gutter splash guards on their own comes down to whether they have a ladder that can safely reach the gutters. Installing splash guards on copper and concrete gutters is more challenging than on aluminum gutters. Water leaking through the roof—particularly near the exterior walls of your home—is a sign that gutters are clogged and preventing proper drainage.

Most people aren’t in the habit of standing outside during a rainstorm to observe where water is spilling over the gutters. Splash guards come in straight pieces to run along the length of gutters or in corner pieces for the corners or “valleys” of gutters. Drill holes through the lip and into the gutter where it will be preventing the water overflow from, usually at a roof valley. Yes they are as described, however if using in sequence or a longer straight run, you will see light through the joints. If you’ve noticed puddles of water beneath your roof eaves or perhaps even discoloured water staining the side of your property, then you may be faced with the issue of overflowing guttering.

Gutter splash guards are small, flat attachments that help keep water from overflowing out of your gutters. Easy to install with the self tapping screws however drill gun will need an extension or it's tough to get the angle. If your gutters are titled away from your property, this could be causing overflow, especially in very wet weather.

Do you notice that in certain areas around your home, your plants look as though they were trampled? The idea here is to push water into the yard and block it from pooling up and damaging the home’s foundation. When rain overshoots the gutter, it falls on the ground near the foundation of your home and leads to home damage. To install a gutter splash guard, apply a thin strip of transparent caulk where the gutter will meet the splash guard.
