Battery It can shoot entirely decent HDR images, but you need to let the Insta360 app actually compile them. Try to dig them straight out of the camera and you’ll just find the separate exposures that are used to make the final picture. In our initial test we were impressed by how easy the modules snapped together, and how stable they feel once they've been pushed onto the battery module. Not only do they fit together so easily, but the processor/touchscreen can be turned through 180º and snapped into place so that the subject can see what's going on. The Insta360 app really impressed us. It’s super-stable and reliable, attaching a phone to the Insta360 ONE RS Twin Edition without problems and sharing files faster than the first-gen model. It certainly feels like trading files over WiFi is faster than on the previous version, though some of its headline features – such as 6K widescreen mode and 48MP PureShot photos – can’t be used with the app; you’ll need to use the (free) Insta360 Studio software on a desktop computer for those. The Insta360 One RS can shoot stills, but we wouldn’t recommend buying one for the job. Shooting feels quite slow, with a notable wait between each exposure as the camera processes/saves the files. It’s much like other action cameras in this respect.

The action cam and Insta360 studio are relatively easy to use once you get the hang of them. The interface is user-friendly, but if it’s your first time, it will require some time to get comfortable navigating the functions.This Insta360 model comes with an extra mic to improve its audio quality. The new core mod also has wind noise reduction added to its algorithm. While it captures audio better than its ancestor One R, it still can’t compare to the crispness you would typically get from a GoPro Hero 10. But we appreciate that you can connect it to your AirPods via Bluetooth if you want to record that way. Software Interface Images, on the other hand, has some sharper results–impressively so. With the Leica Widescreen lens, even more impressive results are reaped. The importance of an action camera’s Core and processor cannot be underestimated. The new ONE RS Core is a beast inside and out, adding the following benefits vs the old ONE R Core: Theoretically, the bigger the sensor, the better the quality, but for some reason, that’s not the case for One RS. GoPro’s white balance also works better in high-contrast environments. But we like how Insta360 added an option for HDR mode for pictures and videos, adding more vibrance and sharpness to your shots. The only issue with Shot Lab is that despite it telling you exactly what to do to satisfy the needs of each template it’s very difficult to tell from the camera roll exactly which clip is relevant to each template.

For this first section we're going to assume you don’t already know about the old Insta360 One R, because the designs of the two cameras are very similar.
