The Emma Hybrid Premium (compare to the Emma Original here) is the everyman hybrid mattress. It has come out of nowhere almost, and is surprisingly affordable. Since the start of the online mattress industry's rapid expansion in 2014, our experts have been actively researching and reviewing hundreds of models in addition to surveying our readers and analyzing countless data points. Expensive: Hybrid mattresses are one of the most expensive types of mattresses, beat out on average only by air mattresses. This price tag may or may not be worth it, depending on if the unique benefits of a hybrid mattress are applicable to your needs. Because hybrid mattresses can be heavy, practical features like handles will help you manoeuvre the mattress especially when rotating it. Note, that hybrid mattresses are one-sided so they will not need to be flipped like a traditional spring mattress. Firmness level: We always ask our reviewers to rate the firmness of their mattresses. While many mattresses have a listed firmness level, we've found that it's not always a true match with what real users feel.

While it’s not cheap, the Hybrid Pro remains our favourite Simba mattress and one of the best hybrids we’ve tested. It has not one but two layers of micro springs (an upgrade on the regular Hybrid’s single layer), as well as an upper comfort layer made from wool, which is an excellent temperature regulator. People with allergies: Hybrid mattresses often contain foam and latex layers, which can be made of either synthetic or natural materials, and some people may have allergic reactions to certain components of these layers. Some companies such as Simba claim that their Hybrid mattresses are hypoallergenic. But, people with allergies should carefully review the materials used in the hybrid mattress they are considering and opt for mattresses that use hypoallergenic materials. While hybrid mattresses are amazing, they're not always very cheap. And, depending on what you're looking for, they can vary greatly when it comes to both the price and the quality of the hybrid mattress itself. So, we're just going to go over the general price points of different hybrid mattresses and talk about what you should expect.Set up: Nowadays, you can find both boxed mattresses and white glove delivery options on the market. Our testers share how seamless the process was and how long any boxed mattresses needed to take proper shape. Some brands provide the option of paying extra for a delivery service instead of DIY, and our panel members often comment on whether they think it's worth the added cost. As for the front sleepers, well, they require a bit more pelvic support, therefore, a softer mattress isn't an option. So, it's 6.5 or higher for the stomach sleepers. However, do note that your bodyweight also comes into play! So, just refer to the table below if you're not sure how firm your hybrid mattress should be. The price Our testing process starts from the moment we receive the hybrid mattress, as we evaluate off-gassing, decompression and set up. We test each hybrid bed for at least three consecutive weeks, and our review team per mattress comprises a lead mattress reviewer and a wider testing panel. And based on that information, you can decide whether you want a luxury hybrid mattress or one of the cheaper models. But we will point out that this is a generalisation and there are bound to be plenty of outliers! Low-end hybrid mattresses If you need more cushioning at your pressure points, you sleep mainly on your side or are lighter in weight then the more plush options will suit you well. Also look out for mattresses that have a cosy top layer.

The Nectar Premier Hybrid is the fancier sibling of the ultra-popular Nectar Original, with a 13-inch tall design that layers up foams with innersprings, and a luxurious Euro Top. The plush memory foam hugs the sleeper's body but is balanced by a tier of bouncier 'ActiveLift' foam, which boosts the responsiveness of the surface and stops you from feeling like you're being swallowed by the mattress. If you have a slightly bigger budget, our favorite premium hybrid mattress is the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid, a five-layer mattress that's well-constructed with high-quality materials. In our tests, we found it offered outstanding support, with a medium-firm feel that ensures your spine stays properly aligned. Despite an upper layer of memory foam, there's not too much of a body-contouring feel. Instead, our tester found it delivered a weightless feel that relieved pressure on their joints very effectively. However, some will find it too firm, and might prefer a plusher option such as the Helix right above it. The spring layer delivers a bit of bounce and also boosts breathability (our testers were all impressed with the temperature regulation here). Like the DreamCloud right above it, the Midnight hybrid mattress is also great at isolating motion, which is good news if you're sharing a bed with a restless sleeper. Even the best mattresses can be made average if not used on the correct bed base. So, make sure you got that part covered, too.

The Best Hybrid Mattresses
