Jaur I'm pretty sure he was joking but thanks for the additional video. I couldn't find any in English when I went looking. Ever since Hultafors started making knives, we have strived to offer unique solutions to match specific needs in various crafts. Bushcraft is no exception. When discovering that our craftsmen’s knives had become favorites with the outdoor crowd as well – we got inspired to develop knives especially suited to their needs. The result is a range of knives dedicated to bushcraft and outdoor life. Outdoor Knife OK1 - For tough tasks in the field Having owned several different Mora's in the past the closest I would say to this one is closest to the Mora Pro Robust in handling and use, another knife I really like. To withstand rust and corrosion the blade has a protective electrophoretic deposition coating (EPD), as well as an engraved scale. The grinded spine of the blade is designed for starting a fire with a fire starter. None of the cucumber slices exploded away into the kitchen. The front half with that pronounced belly curve is better at food tasks that one would expect.

I like my Mora much better." - To each their own, although a Mora with a 3mm carbon blade is twice the price.

I have been using it almost daily now for a bit over 3 months, so no box opening review here. Rather a 'long first impression'. I'd be interested if they ever went on to make a 6" blade version to compete with the Mora Pathfinder, I'd asked Mora if they'd ever consider a 6" on the Pro Robust but they weren't interested, polite enough but really not interested, it's obviously to me now they were working on other models... The cutting edge has a scandi grind for superior sharpness and is easy to re-sharpen. A protective electrophoretic deposition coating (EPD) for best rust protection. As a harder survival oriented test I opened a tin can with the OK4. Batoning the tip threw the top of the can with hand strikes and repeating around the edge until it was open. To be fair this was an abusive test, but as the steel was almost a complete unknown I needed to go beyond my normal testing regiment. This forced three small chips on the belly of the OK4, but impressively the tip survived intact. The knife still cut paper but hung up on the chips. This damage honed out with just a few moments of work on a 1000 grit wet stone. The heat treat appears to be appropriate, though possibly slightly over-hardened having chipped on the softer tin. Other reviewers have found similar results, the steel holds up perfectly well to normal use, but will chip when pressed beyond safe sane knife use.

But Mora have competition. From Hultafors, also in Sweden. Hultafors makes all kind of tools and is part of an industrial group that also sells safety gear and workwear - overalls, bibs, equipment vests and so on - on which you’ll find the typical Swedish buttons that you can hang knives in plastic sheaths on. They also invented the folding carpenter’s rule a very long time ago.

Outdoor Knife OK4 - Versatile and powerful

The GK has not gone really blunt on me yet, btw, nor has it suffered damage from things like unfortunately hitting an embedded nail in a former fence pole log I was debarking. For the above grab-and-go tasks I used my Mora HD (with a seriously reprofiled convex grind) for years. I now use the Hultafors GK instead. It does everything I used the Mora HD for, but does most of them them better. The Hultafors OK4 Expedition knife is a solid light weight outdoors knife with a fantastic handle and a few flaws. If you want a capable and comfortable tool that will not weigh you down on a long hike this stands among the best budget Nordic style knives on the market. The handle is fitted with a Santoprene friction grip for extra control. The cutting edge has a scandi grind for long-lasting sharpness and is easy to re-sharpen if needed. The grinded spine of the blade is designed for starting a fire with a fire starter.

The sheath attaches to the belt by a 3 inch loop of high quality nylon webbing that is single stitched. The elastic band on the midsection is also the home of the ferro rod holder. The knife and FS Fire Steel carry well; the set up dangles and flexes comfortably as you move about. Both the plastic and fabric sections have both held up to my use with no noticeable wear. This heavy duty Outdoor knife was developed to be hardwearing and tough for rough duties in the outdoors. The large handle in durable PP plastic has a 82 mm long tang which makes the knife suitable for batoning. Nůž je v podstatě nezničitelný díky rukojeti z odolného plastu PP v kombinaci s 82 mm dlouhou stopkou zasahující do ¾ rukojeti. I've had this knife a year now and thought I'd write a review. It is a great little knife I have used it for many tasks from splitting wood to skinning rabbits. I use a whetstone to keep it sharp. Worth the money for a good little cheap knife.

Light My Fire Swedish Fireknife Rusty Orange - 3.5" Blade, Weatherproof FireSteel and Sheath

Broušený hřbet čepele můžete využít při rozdělávání ohně s pomocí křesadla a na čepeli vygravírované měřítko můžete zase využít při orientačním měření vzdáleností na mapě. The handle is made from super-durable PP plastic and fitted with a Santoprene friction grip. A long tang makes the knife very durable.

Oproti jiným křesadlům se jedná o tlustý a dlouhý kus oceli, který dlouho vydrží. (po odříznutí poutka použijete i druhou stranu)Ke křesání se používá tupá strana nože, noži se nic nestane. (Na nožích OK1 a OK4 je potřeba obrousit nanovrstvu barvy na horní hraně) The OK4 is a partial tang knife meaning that the blade steel only goes about two thirds of the way through the handle. As we describe in our Survival Knife Guide, this is not as strong as a full tang design, but here it is substantially longer than most partial tang knives. The knife did not fail in our testing, even with aggressive batoning. The short blade only spans small two or three inch limbs, but the OK4 split kindling with ease. The only damage the OK4 took was to the coating on the 90 degree spine, where the impact of the baton chipped the finish off. Though to be fair with that coating removed the OK4 scraped sparks from the Hultafors Fire Steel FS much better than when fully coated, so I can’t complain. The Hultafors Outdoor Knife OK4 is a durable outdoor knife with friction grip suitable for tasks in the field. The hardwearing textile belt loop allows up to 80mm wide belts. The blade has a Scandi grind and is made from Japanese 3.0mm carbon knife steel that has been hardened to 58–60 HRC and has a rust protective electrophoretic deposition coating to withstand corrosion. The ground spine of the blade is designed for starting a fire with a fire starter. Pouzdro se dá použít také bez textilního poutka běžným uchycením na knoflík pracovního oblečení, nebo přiklapnutím na tenčí opasek. There are three series of knives from Hultafors that are of interest to someone doing bushcrafty stuff. The lightest and thinnest one is the Craftsman, the typical competition to the Mora Clipper or Companion. It has a slim and fairly thin blade that is very useful for carving and finer work - and it’s still made of SK5 tool steel. The basic Craftsman with a hard plastic handle goes for about 5 euros, the ‘luxury’ HVK-GH version with a grooved rubberized handle costs about 7 euros.
