Keep in mind that the filter is never going to appear as white and clean as when you first bought it. The goal is to remove as much dust as possible – not to restore the filter to its original appearance. A single power switch turns the vacuum cleaner on and off. Note that there are no selectable power modes, bar the aforementioned vent. Performance Henry Allergy has just one power setting but you can adjust the suction to some degree by swivelling a valve on the head of the suction tube. But here’s the rub… While the valve helps dial down the suction, there’s still way too much of it when used on a carpet, even with the bristles raised. It’s not terrible but it just takes extra effort to push and pull it across the carpet. Put another way, it doesn’t glide across carpet like a Dyson or a Shark.

A bag that’s more than 75% full may reduce suction. This is because the air must be forced through all the collected debris. All you need to do is remove it from the vacuum cleaner and run it under some cold water until you have visibly removed the dust that you can see. Vacuum cleaners are unhygienic machines! Make sure you wear gloves when cleaning a filter to keep your hands clean. You may also want to wear a face mask to avoid breathing in dust and other small particles. Step 3: Vacuum Both Sides of the FilterWith normal filters air passes through a sheet with holes and larger dust particles get trapped in the holes that are big enough to let air through but too small to let large dust particles and things like hair pass through. Henry filters are not washable. You shouldn’t use a wet cloth, run them under a tap, or put them in the washing machine, as this will cause the dirt to turn into mud. Once that happens, the filter will probably become too clogged and need to be replaced.

They will definitely keep more dust in your hoover than a regular hoover so if anyone in your home has dust allergies they will benefit from a HEPA filter. HEPA Filters have become pretty common in everyday life. They’re used in fans, dehumidifiers, air conditioning (both in buildings and cars) and evenvacuum cleaners. Most people are aware they're the most thorough filters available for domestic appliances, but what isn’t as widely known is why! The only slight issue is that the metal poles do have a tendency to become stiffer over time and therefore more difficult to pull apart. I recommend you separate them at the end of every clean as a preventative measure. On the other hand, if you just have hard floors, then the streamlined hard floor-specific head is the one to grab. In fact, this head is one of the very best hard floor heads I’ve ever used. It’s really flat, like a sleek sports car, but it performs superbly well and feels fabulously smooth to push around. A high-five to Numatic’s R&D department for this radical piece of engineering. Henry Hoover filters cannot be washed with water, as the dust and dirt will turn into mud. Start by tapping off loose debris into a bin. Then use a second vacuum cleaner to remove dust from both the inside and outside of the filter. This is a more expensive material than normal filters which is why you will mostly have to pay a bit more for a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter but the benefit is significant because you can be safe in the knowledge that it will capture and retain everything it takes in. How do you clean a HEPA filter?

No, Henry filters should not be put in the washing machine. Water can clog the filter and they aren’t designed to withstand a wash cycle. No. HEPA filters quite expensive to manufacture so one of the ways to keep the price down is to put a standard filter in which is quite common on low-cost hoovers. How much dust stays inside the hoover depends on the kind of filtration system that it has and the better the filter the more dust that stays inside the vacuum cleaner and the cleaner your home is. Cleaning the filter on your vacuum cleaner at least once a month is recommended to ensure that there is no loss of performance and it is still collecting all of the tiny particles that it is made to do.

Unfortunately, Henry vacuum filters are not washable. Cleaning with water will cause any dirt and dust to become more clogged and reduce the suction power even further. Water could also damage the filter and cause it to perform less effectively. Can You Put a Henry Hoover Filter in the Washing Machine? Henry Hoover filters can’t be washed with water. Instead, you should remove as much dust as possible by tapping off the loose debris into a bin, then vacuuming the filter with another vac. If you don’t have another vacuum, then a soft (dry) brush can be used to remove dirt. If you look at a HEPA filter it looks like some kind of material that has been folded up but is actually glass fibres that catch very fine particles. Unfortunately it’s not a regulated market so be wary of any marketing material that states anything such as “HEPA LIKE” or anything like that.
