I really enjoyed reading this book because it has a great overall message in the story. ‘Its okay to be different’ This really comes across in the book and I like the added touch at the end (The author, Tom Fletcher, wrote a song to go with the book called Different and there are the lyrics and a QR code to hear him sing it). Do you ever hear strange, creaking noises at night? Ever wonder what makes those noises? Lucy Dungston always did. Write some dialogue between two Creakers. What might they say to each other? What unusual words and phrases do they use?

Make a timetable showing the activities that you would try if you woke up and there were no grown-ups for a day. Use this to make up some word problems to challenge others. Just read this book to my grandchildren 8 years and 5 years and they absolutely loved it. They did not want me to stop reading and the hardest part was saying ‘more of it tomorrow’. Story encompasses so many facets of life that the children will encounter in certain degrees and it held their attention making them excited for more. Hello Yellow - 80 Books to Help Children Nurture Good Mental Health and Support With Anxiety and Wellbeing -

The Creakers love to use human rubbish for their underground world. Make a poster to encourage people to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle things they don’t need any more. Lucy is responsible and all of the children look to her for support when the grown-ups disappear. What does it mean to be responsible? What are you responsible for? How do our responsibilities change as we get older?

See that awesome girl on the front cover in the dungarees? That’s Lucy Dungston, she’s the hero of this story – she just doesn’t know it yet! She’s smart, brave and maybe a little messy from time to time. But she’s exactly who you need when the Creakers start making mischief. Look closely and you’ll see she’s wearing goggles on the top of her head – now, why could that be?! The Story-Makers Show was known as Puffin Virtually Live up until March 2019. The content and ambition of the show remains the same: to give every pupil the opportunity to engage with authors and illustrators in their own classroom using the power of the internet.Once again, Tom manages to convey important messages in The Creakers. Celebrating difference is a key theme carried through from The Christmasaurus. The values of looking after the environment and living and working in harmony with those who aren't like us are emphasised, challenging readers to think about the world around them brilliantly. Edit: SBC 3 (An Adventure Story) The children end up going on an adventure under their beds. The book follows the structure of an adventure story and contains the key features. I would use it in the classroom as an example of an adventure story. Maar die glinsteringen draaien niet alleen door in de kaft. Eenmaal je in het boek zit, snap je wel waar dat stof voor dient, maar haast je zodat jij er niet door beneveld geraakt. But Lucy wonders why. And how. And when. Soon, she discovers that there are creatures appearing in her room at night - and wonders if they are perhaps responsible for taking the grown-ups. These creatures? They are the Creakers.

Stonkingly good . . . A compelling adventure and a nuanced celebration of friendship and family love' The Guardian At different points in the story, the author talks directly to the reader. Can you use this technique in your own writing? The Christmasaurus will always have my heart, but The Creakers is a strong follow-up novel with an incredible heroine falling into and a scary, fun and heartwarming adventure, guaranteed to make kids look forward to bedtime. Sure, I wasn't happy with the mom. Really, you believe your hubby would just get up and leave? Without taking anything with him? Leaving his food/drink on the table? I would definitely have a bit more trust in my hubby if he would suddenly disappear without a hint.

Wat is er eigenlijk met die ouders gebeurd? Lucy is de enige die samen met Kees op zoek gaat naar hen. Kees die eigenlijk geen vrienden heeft, wordt gaandeweg in het verhaal een goeie vriend van Lucy. Have you ever heard a creaking noise in your house at night? If you have, then you’ve probably got Creakers living under your bed! They’re the disgusting stars of Tom Fletcher’s newest, spookiest and smelliest book! Het boek is geïllustreerd door Shane Devries. Prachtige potloodtekeningen vullen dit prachtige boekje.

Ella? I just disliked her. I wouldn't have minded if she had been taken by the monsters and never was returned. Bleh. Begins with a premise that doesn’t bear examination and goes badly off the rails toward the end: skip. In my review of The Christmasaurus, I asked Tom to give us more girl heroes, and my goodness did he deliver! Lucy is sensible and responsible and brave and clever and daring and kind! She is a true leader and I couldn't ask for more in the main character. I loved her friends too. Norman is eccentric, skilful and sweet and I was pleased to see a girl of colour in Ella, the sassiest six-year-old you will ever meet! Although, I would have liked her to play more of a key role than just the annoying younger one that always tags along. I was thrilled by the cameo from William and Brenda, but I wanted to hear more from them and maybe even Bob and Pamela too.

Until, one morning, Lucy discovers that all the grown-ups have disappeared - as if into thin air. Chaos descends as the children in Lucy's town run riot. It's mayhem. It's madness. To most kids, it's amazing! Inspired by The Dinosaur That Pooped Easter, follow our step-by-step instructions to create your own colourful Easter egg cup holder. Tom's books have been translated into thirty-nine languages, and to date he has sold over 5 million copies of his books in the UK alone. Write a news report about the naughty things the children did while their parents were away. Chapter 9 describes lots of these. This mischievous moth lives in dark attics, wardrobes and carpets in homes around the UK – its larvae eat the keratin found in natural fibres such as wool and silk. Yum! They love warmth, and find sweat and food stains extra tasty – so turn radiators off in empty rooms and wash your clothes!
