The other common annoyance is that the opener “eats batteries” (so you need to keep lots of AA batteries handy). Though this is avoidable with a Walk-and Cut can opener that works on rechargeable battery.Cans with heavy seams, odd shapes or uneven rims may stall the Can Opener. If this happens, follow above procedure to release the can. Start the cutting action just beyond any minor bump or dent in the can. I've had mine for almost two years now but the one I have now is my second one as the first broke. Good thing it was still under warranty so it was replaced. It might just be the first one was from a bad batch because the second one was more durable. It's very effective at its core job of opening tins. They attach easily to the device and are held securely.

Upright vs. handheld: There are two main types of electric can openers: For upright and under-counter models, you simply attach the can; for handheld ones, you place the opener on the can and press or hold a lever or button to start the opening process. The opener applies the pressure and does the gripping and turning for you, which spares you the most uncomfortable motions.

Note: The Can Opener is designed to cut cans with diameters of 52mm to 153mm (inclusive). It will not open cans with heavy seams, rimless, odd shapes or corners. Unlike some we tested, the magnet that grabs the tin lid also works well, meaning that you don't have to go dipping into the can with your fingers to get the lid out.
