You can actually hear Sir David's voice (or rather Del's Boys) as you read this book, lovely and funny insight to a very private man.

From Open All Hours to The Darling Buds of May to his starring roles as Detective Inspector Frost in A Touch of Frost and, of course, Derek 'Del Boy' Trotter in Only Fools and Horses. He has also starred as Captain Skipper, a sea captain, sea dog and Pip's uncle in the animated series Pip Ahoy! I have to say I enjoyed David's ability to put a humorous twist on pretty much anything he experienced in his life that may seem sad or negative to others. The Chalke History Festival announces a new name, new look, and tons for history buffs to get their teeth into!A well-written, witty, and touching memoir, "My Life" - the title's blandness notwithstanding - enjoyably captures the small and big moments that made one of my favorite actors.

As I started to read his autobiography, I realised he had a background in acting covering such a variety of characters in his repertoire that little was beyond him and his ability to perform whatever role was presented. The title is not a misnomer, this truly is a book about David's life from his childhood in London in and immediately after the second world war to becoming a household name. As the front-woman of Blondie, she and the band forged a new sound that brought together the worlds of rock, punk, disco, reggae and hip-hop to create some of the most beloved pop songs of all time. Even though there were lots of amusing stories about what him and his fellow actors got up too, it is the stories about friends and family that touch you the most, and allow you to see the man.Strictly Come Dancing 2021: Sir David Jason and Huw Edwards make surprise appearance during Christmas special". In 1981, Jason was cast as Del Boy Trotter in the BBC situation comedy Only Fools and Horses, created by John Sullivan. The no-holds-barred memoirs of a GP who went from working at a quiet suburban practice to treating the country's most dangerous criminals - first in young offenders' institutions, then at the notorious Wor. I listened to the audiobook, David Jason read the first chapter, but no further, this jarred a little bit and I never really got used to the second narrator.

This one was a fabulous read, it made me chuckle, it my eyes well up in all the right places and whilst I was reading, I couldn't help but imagine him reading it to me. Born the son of a Billingsgate market porter at the height of the Second World War, the author spent his early life dodging bombs and bullies, both with impish good timing. The book took me much longer than it should have done to read because I kept stopping to look people and shows up. Jason’s account of his ‘busy and fulfilling life’ is as genuinely genial as the man himself … his hugely likeable memoirs reveal he’s had the last laugh. It wasn’t until 1981, kitted out with a sheepskin jacket, a flat cap, and a clapped-out Reliant Regal, that David found the part that would capture the nation’s hearts: the beloved Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter in Only Fools and Horses. For us, seeing him as Sir David, with his many BAFTA awards, it might be difficult to imagine that there was a time before Only Fools And Horses. Autobiographies can have a tendency to become warts and all tell all slaggng off off other actors so it's nice to read many nice things said about Jason's fellow professionals.

And revisit the ones I am familiar with like Count Duckula and Danger Mouse - I used to love them so much. I do believe this man is one of the comedic backbones of English humour, alongside greats such as Michael Plain, John Cleese, Ronnie Barker.Humorous, at times moving, but no real revelations or deep insight here although Jason comes across as a really nice bloke. He appeared in the Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) episode " That's How Murder Snowballs" (1969) as Abel, a framed performer in a major London theatre. The book is almost a textbook of how a dedicated actor can succeed in his career if he never gives up, works hard, and makes some difficult choices.
