Cold Test: The temperature of this baking soda and water snow is about as close to feeling like real snow as you can get if you put the baking soda in the freezer for a while and use very cold water in the mix. The baking soda and water (method 1) proved to be the best in the cold test category. This snow really felt as cold as the snow you would find outside on a cold winter day! This is the real deal. Be aware of cheap imitations. It is hard to get instant snow powder that has true erupting WOW factor. To be sure ask if the snow needs to be stirred. If so, it is not the erupting kind.

Superabsorbent polymers and their use in real life applications, like in babys nappies and agriculture to retain water in soil. Honestly, all of these recipes on how to make instant snow at home are super easy to clean up after you and your kids are done playing, but I would have to say method 6 with the baking soda and conditioner gets the edge in this test. Clean-up Test: Cleans up pretty well and leaves less residue on your hands as long as you mix it with a spoon first. Once it is mixed the shaving cream snow will be very easy to clean up.Cold Test: The baking soda and conditioner method feels pretty cold if you put the baking soda in the freezer first. I do not recommend freezing the conditioner though. With the conditioner being room temperature, the snow mixture is not quite as cold as the 1st method. Now it’s time to make the magic happen and slowly mix very cold water into the baking soda. Again, the colder your water is, the more realistic your “snow” will feel, but you can make the snow as warm as you want it and it will still be a good consistency for that perfect snowman or snowball fight! After comparing these different methods on how to make snow with baking soda, my personal favorite would have to be Method 6: How to make snow with baking soda and conditioner. Although Insta Snow fake snow is non-toxic and environmentally safe, you shouldn't eat it. We tried putting some of the powder on our tongues to see if fake snow would erupt. It didn't. And we're still alive. However, we still don't recommend trying this at home.

Now comes the fun part of playing in your freshly made snow! One of my favorite things to do is to of course make a snowball and then a snowman. We have searched the globe to find you the best erupting instant snow. Create a blizzard with this exciting powder that erupts into snow with water. No stirring. That's right, make artificial snow that looks and feels like the real thing! You wont be able to take your hands off the piles of fluffy, white flurry. The secret is in the superabsorbent polymer powder that expands up to 40 times its size with water. As used in movies and indoor skate parks. This is because a snowflake needs to pass through about 1,000 feet of above-freezing air to melt. If temperatures are well below freezing before they reach the temperatures that are above freezing they won’t have time to melt until they hit the ground. Can it be too Cold to Snow? When you are done playing with your diaper snow, you can dry it out and then use it again by adding water next time! The Insta Snow also includes an activity guide that explains the science behind the fake snow. And it’s easy to turn into snow – just add water and watch it erupt in seconds. Kids are always amazed at this! For those of you who prefer more of a warm tropical snow (which doesn’t actually exist in the weather world) then you can skip the freezer and just cut right to the chase in making warm, fluffy, magical snow! So, let your imagination run wild with all the cool things you can do with Insta Snow powder. Try putting a little in the bottom of a champagne glass (but don't drink it, of course!). Or put some in a friend's water glass and watch their amazement when they fill it up with water. Have your kids been begging you to make cloud slime? Have you been wondering what makes it different than ordinary slime? Well, the secret is snow, but not the kind that falls from the sky. This Easy Cloud Slime Recipe is the best fluffy slime recipe I have tried. It is stretchy, soft, and textured all at the same time. Find out how to make it and why snow makes all the difference!

The area surrounding the experiment should be kept clear of any obstructions and away from the storage of food. It should be well lit and ventilated and close to a water supply. A solid table with a heat resistant top should be providedAlthough the shaving cream and corn starch snow did not quite win the coldness contest or clean-up test, it came as a close runner up in both areas. The overall texture and ability to play with this snow for hours wins my vote for the best way how to make instant snow without baking soda! Depending on the type of conditioner you choose to use, it also makes your snow smell really really good (mine smelt like coconut)! Just make sure to use a white conditioner unless you want your snow to be a different color! Add 1 bag of cornstarch (ours was 454 grams/ 16 ounces) with 1 cup of conditioner. We used unscented but a lavender or light scented version would also work. Store your fake snow so that it does not get exposed to air. This will help it from drying out. You can place some saran wrap on top. If it becomes really dry, add a little bit more conditioner and some extra water into it. Puffy Paint Snow Recipe
