Description

Rosie Revere dreams of becoming a great engineer. She creates wonderful gadgets and gizmos - but only when no one is watching. She's kept her inventions a secret ever since, when she was very small, her uncle Zookeeper Fred laughed at the special cheese hat she designed him to keep snakes at bay. But then great-great-great aunt Rosie, in her red-and-white spotted headscarf, appears on the scene, and helps Rosie to understand that sometimes you've got to risk failure before you can find success. Calling all engineers! More than a dozen Rosie Revere, Engineer activities help kids build confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Students will analyze characters and story elements, as well as interpret quotes from the story, and develop a new engineering feat! The activities included will allow students to: In this engaging, funny, and exciting example of contemporary realistic fiction, Andrea Beatty has created a character all young students can relate to. Rosie is curious and intelligent but sometimes doubts herself. Readers can follow along as she learns more about herself and learns to believe in herself. Rosie is a second-grader who loves science and loves her family. She often gets herself into trouble by helping family members solve problems with her engineering skills. Enter the Blue River Riveters. They have an emergency that they need Rosie’s help with. One of the riveters, June, is a painter and always participates in the Art-a-Go-Go. This year, though, she has both of her wrists in casts. How can she paint like that? It’s up to Rosie to build a solution.

If you have a girl who likes to build and experiment, who think she might like to be an engineer, this story is for you. Rosie likes to create using, well, whatever hoses or springs or curtain rings or valves she can find. She’s also unafraid of failure. She documents each attempt in her engineer’s journal, noting when it’s a Fantastic Flop and when it’s a success. The story is great at showing the trial and error inherent in making new things. The questioneer series is a lovely set of books, each book telling the story of one child who questions, thinks and acts! There are five characters in the series as of now, each book dedicated to that one character.

I have created literacy graphic organizers for Rosie Revere, Engineer. You can find them at my Teachers Pay Teachers store. There are many activities for each literacy area to differentiate depending on your student’s ability/age. They include activities for: Rosie is embarrassed, perplexed and dismayed when he laughs at her invention. From that moment, she keeps her creations a secret (under the bed), worried that they will be failures. Based on the real-life experiences of a Paralympic gold medallist, this lively picture book is a joyful celebration of mastering a new skill by stepping out of your comfort zone. Each character's picture book also has a corresponding workbook available, which is a great resource to enhance the kids' creativity and imagination. A deliciously imaginative story about friendship―from the author / illustrator of The Scrambled States of America.

Een prentenboek met grappige tekeningen vol details. Een boek dat ook in de week tegen pesten past. Een boek met verschillende emoties.I like the Questioneers series because I like science and engineering as well as art and the books feel like the combination of both subjects. I also like it because the books are like poems. The sentences rhymes. It was fun to read them. What's in a name? For one little girl, her very long name tells the vibrant story of where she came from — and who she may one day be.
