Note: you will have some leftover crispy marshmallow bits in the syrup that you'll strain out before putting the syrup in a jar. Make sure to strain this one through a metal sieve as it will have some char in it from the marshmallows. If you need to, once it’s cooled down in the fridge you can strain off any extra white foam that appears as it cools. However, don’t discard – that foam is pure marshmallow flavor and can be added to desserts, pancakes, ice cream, coffee, etc. Time to Mix up that S’mores Old Fashioned It's the perfect pairing for this month's featured Lavazza coffee, Gran Selezione, a robust blend of Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee beans with rich, chocolatey notes. Upgrade your classic mocha by adding a drizzle of marshmallow syrup. Combine rich chocolate syrup, espresso, steamed milk, and a generous squeeze of marshmallow syrup. Stir well to blend the flavors, creating a heavenly combination of chocolate, coffee, and marshmallow. Top it with whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings for an irresistible treat. Once all the burnt bits are strained out, the end result is this beautiful amber-coloured syrup that tasted and smells just like the real deal... sweet and slightly smoky and skating just along the edge of burnt. Finally, we’re gonna toast ’em up! Use a kitchen torch and VERY CAREFULLY burn the marshmallow edges. (Please be careful. I did this outside, I was wearing shoes, and I had glasses on just in case.) Without a handheld frother, cold milk (nonfat to 2% is best for stable foam, but won’t be as rich) can be shaken in a tightly sealed jar (no more than a third filled), then microwaved to set the foam or heated and frothed in a French press (pump for about 10 seconds, be careful not to overfill) or whisked vigorously while hot. Looking for more coffee-based drinks? Before we left, I whipped through the house in a last-minute frenzy of holiday preparations. I was like a whirling dervish of domesticity, tidying and cleaning and washing and dusting and folding and putting away.Disclosure: I am being compensated for my participation in the Lavazza Passionista blogger program. Just make sure to save a bottle for yourself, because I'm sure you've earned yourself a treat or two as well. The inspiration comes from a toasted marshmallow latte they make at one of the fancy coffee places near my office during the colder months, which I am terribly in love with. All you need to transform this duo into a homemade marshmallow latte is a generous pour of steamed milk. A pretty mug is optional, though I do find it somehow makes things taste slightly better than an ordinary mug. Feel free to adjust the recipe to suit your preferences. You can add more marshmallow extract for a stronger flavor or even experiment with different extracts to create unique variations. Torani is third generation family owned and has been around since 1925. Their syrups are made with real, simple ingredients like pure cane sugar, natural flavors, and nothing artificial. They offer a huge variety of flavors, just like your favorite coffeehouses. You can create your own mixes like I do and really make something special for the holidays. Now that I’m thinking about it…wouldn’t it be fun to have a coffee bar on Christmas morning and let your family create their own coffee or hot cocoa concoctions? My party planning wheels are spinning.Connecting with family and friends is what Torani is all about.

It also means we've made our annual pilgrimage to Rhode Island to spend the holidays with my sister and her family, laden down with gifts for our nephews and Canadian treats for my sister. In a few days, we'll return equally laden down with bellies full of chowder and clam cakes and grilled pizza, which seems like a reasonably good trade to me.Now that you have your homemade or store-bought marshmallow syrup ready, it's time to get creative and explore a variety of coffee drink inspirations. Here are a few ideas to inspire your coffee creations: Marshmallow Latte First, marshmallows are torched to charred perfection. This can be done with a kitchen torch or over a stovetop flame.
