The Coronation Street actor is best known for playing the role of Mike Baldwin in the ITV soap for 30 years between 1976 and 2006. Beside the snap, the post read: “After some good work by Pc Furse and Greenstreet from the Uxbridge North Safer Neighbourhood Team, Karen Briggs, 53, from West Drayton was sentenced on 17th September 2018 at Isleworth Crown Court to twelve weeks imprisonment for theft of two pairs of designer sunglasses.” The statement continued: “Karen had entered the Sunglass Hut in the Intu Shopping Centre on two separate occasions, 24th July and 1st August 2018 and whilst there, stole a pair of sunglasses each time.” Having exited the shop, Briggs was recognised weeks later by a staff member, after she walked past the shop.

Johnny made his departure from Coronation Street in scenes broadcast in April 2006, after his character had been battling Alzheimer's disease for several months. Briggs was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment last Monday, after she was found guilty of the theft of two pairs of designer sunglasses. The father-of-six received a lifetime achievement award at the 2006 British Soap Awards, following his 30-year stint on the hit soap.
