Description

Being a screw-in design, a hammer is replaced by a 12V drill, although a shifter, spanner, ratchet or a hand brace (like your caravan leg winder) can be used to insert and extract the pegs. The standard plastic Kampa pegs are excellent on a grass pitch - probably the best you can get - so don't chuck 'em away! Another cost-effective solution for pitching your caravan awning on a hardstanding is this pack of 20 from Garden Haven. Although they may not provide as much grip as the corkscrew-style, these smooth shafted pegs will be easy enough to hit into the ground with a tent mallet. These pegs can be used with the following adaptors: Manual Drive In Adaptor or Cordless/Electric Drill Adaptor.

Given their longitudinal holding capacity, they can hold in the ground while being pulled straight in line with the peg and rope, so we had to adapt our techniques to suit. With an incredible selection of pegs to choose from and believe it or not almost every size has its own unique purpose. Your story had me chuckling; we had a similar experience with a big sand peg that we put right through a shacks water supply from a bore in the middle of no where! The Caravan Supermarket has 35 years experience in the caravan and camping industry and is based in Birmingham. I have moved on to the big nail type, as long and as big as possible, big club hammer (4lb) and pull them out by gripping the top with a pair of Mole grips, straight pull and Robert is your Dads brother. After drying ourselves and confronting the park manager, they were very easy going, we helped them repair the pipe, even gave us a beer for our trouble. Made from Aluminium Alloy, the Big Dog Alloy Screw-in Peg is 35cm long, and has a left aggressive thread, which allows the peg to secure awnings etc.

Peggy Peg offers many different lengths and diameters, as well as aluminium and UV reinforced fibreglass pegs. A combo tool can be used to help twist the pegs into the ground should your drill not do the job and there are purpose-designed anchor plates that accommodate up to seven separate pegs for extra ground-hugging force as well as slots to take awning legs. The small clips that may be used in conjunction with the screw pegs are extremely handy for different applications. Holding a hammer properly at the end so that the head accelerates faster than the wrist due to the arc of the head makes driving pegs far easier on the wrist than using a short handled lump hammer. The ropes attached effortlessly and securely to the awning arm and they held firmly in the ground with the anchors. One thing to consider with the nail types is there are two basic designs, ones with a t-bar welded on about an inch down from the head and ones with a plastic block at the head. They are similarly sized to the others in our list, at 20cm and feature a portion of the shaft up from the tip with twisting design. Some tents don’t have the ability to hook it over, so you may need to run the screw down in the centre of the loop, being careful that it doesn’t grab the fabric and start to twist it around! If you spend enough time on the road, travelling around the country from one camping and caravan site to the next, you will find yourself on hard standing pitches more often than not.
