If you already have the Initiative Marker, or had it earlier this round, you may not perform this action. The Initiative Marker may only transfer between players once per round. Recruit a new coin from your supply into your discard area, your opponent will get to know what Unit you recruit.

War Chest is a bag building game with poker chip style coins that represent your units. Each turn players will draw three coins from their bag and use these to perform a variety of actions. The game ends when one player has placed all of their control markers. Set-up You may not control a location you already control. Each location can contain only one control marker. You may discard any coin facedown into your discard pile and pass. If you pass, you are not required to pass with subsequent coins. You may use any remaining coins as normal. At the start of the round, each player draws 3 coins from their bag and puts them in their hand, hidden from their opponent. At any time that you need to draw coins and your bag is empty, refill it with the coins in your discard pile. The queen sat down with her child the next day, and together they opened the book. They found that the insides had been carved out and filled with more coins for their game, as well as some letters and wax seals. They took their chest from the shelf, opened it, and began to play…

Video Review

If you choose to place the coin on the board this can either be on an empty space with either one of your control markers, or on a space where the same unit is present to bolster it (i.e. make it more difficult to get rid of) The tactics on the units are varied and interesting, and can really turn the tide of the game. Players need to be aware of what their opponent's units can do to ensure they don't move their own units in to an unfavourable position. This is, again, something that more experienced players might perform better at than new players but all the units have clear to understand tactic cards that can be referenced so shouldn't a major problem. Deploy - Allows you to place a coin from your hand face-up on the board on a location that you control. You control a location if you have a control marker present on the corresponding space. War Chest is such beautiful game. It's a heavily abstracted, bag building area control game, a combination that is not seen often, if at all. The production value is amazing with all the units being represented by hefty poker chips. There is a decent amount of variety of units in the box giving the game a lot of replay value. The rulebook also comes with suggested scenarios/units that are inspired by historical battles. Alternatively, the units can be shuffled and dealt to each player for a more random set-up. Set-up is pretty straight forward. Each player takes six control markers and selects four units. The units can be selected randomly or using the suggested set-ups. Each player then takes all of their chips for their units from the box. Two chips for each unit are added in to the player's bag along with their faction marker. Gameplay

If the matching unit occupies a neutral location, place one of your Control Markers onto that location. Can you add these four new influential units to your force, and use royal proclamations to your advantage, to once again triumph in this masterful game of tactical warfare? On your turn, select a coin and either place it on the board, discard it face up, or discard it face down. War Chest is an all-new bag-building war game! At the start of the game, raise your banner call (drafting) several various units into your army, which you then use to capture key points on the board. To succeed in War Chest, you must successfully manage not only your armies on the battlefield, but those that are waiting to be deployed.

Player feedback

As the corporations battle for control of the field, events ranging from weather to deadly plagues will encourage players to change their strategies as the game goes on. The first player to capture 8 of 12 areas, or the 3 areas closest to their opponent, claims victory. The old general returned to the kingdom on the eve of the heir’s tenth birthday. He brought with him a book—or rather, what looked like a book from the outside. In War Chest you take on the role of a medieval commander vying for control of a battlefield. To succeed you must manage your deployed units, draft new units and successfully manoeuvre the battlefield to outwit and outsmart your opponent(s). In addition to tactics (indicated by TACTIC on the Unit Card) some units have special attributes (indicated by ) and/or restrictions (indicated by ).
