Discovery is one of the most watched shows on Paramount+ this is a proven fact(and it was one of the most watched shows on Netflix when it was available on that platform) it has millions of viewers worldwide. I sincerely believe that there are some people at the top of the media industry who make extraordinary wealth, while the people who write the scripts, news or criticism, those who do a lot of the technical work like editing etc., work long hours for scale or as piecework. Making much of the work gig based on top of that seems to baked-in.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds - Season One [4K UHD]

The main draw to this set is the 4K picture quality as well as the advantage of HDR (or, if it’s your thing it’s also a steelbook). And while it’s odd to see a Star Trek television series presented in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, but here we are. And it looks splendid. Everything about this excels be it the level of detail, the colors, the overall ambiance and everything in between. We can see the coarse hairs in Christopher Pike’s mane of hair, the textures in the suits and the crisp displays of the computers. It might be running on the small screen, but I’d put the way this looks up there with any feature-length film. Given the color palette used during the series and added benefit of HDR, if you want to see the show in its best-looking format then look no further. Audio: How’s it sound? How do you get 4k and Dolby Vision on Paramount+? The service doesn’t charge more for Ultra HD, so you just need a subscription and device that supports either 4k, HDR, or both. The HDR type (the most popular are Dolby Vision, HDR10, and HLG) should convert to whatever your screen supports. Many TVs will let you know when an HDR signal is received and streaming. If your TV doesn’t show HDR, you might try the Display or Info buttons on your TV to get information on the video stream. The same goes for the Paramount+ series Star Trek: Picard and other series and movies found on streaming services such as Netflix and Prime. It’s certainly not a common occurrence though. Most streamed HDR content goes hand-in-hand with 4k resolution, and most 4k Blu-ray Discs include HDR. Blu-ray, on the other hand, does not support HDR. However, there is one minor irritation: whenever reviewers mention that something is, "the best new "Trek" show in years", they nearly always forget to mention that we've already had a show like that since 2017 - "The Orville." Where Strange New Worlds 4K UHD presentation really shines is in its visuals. The Blu-ray version of the series was stunning. The 4K UHD is quite simply perfect. Fine detail is incredible and razor sharp. The costume design, the set design and practical makeup effects all look their absolute best in ultra-HD. There’s a reason Star Trek looks so good in this format and it’s because of the care and attention the production team puts in to making the world(s) feel real and it really shows. My spouse and I resisted, but one of our teens basically said they’d watch on their gaming set up on their own rather than join us in the family room. The visual quality was that much better. The production looks good on Paramount, if a little soft, but I expect the 4k version to be awesome. Cultural impact is not the same as popularity in terms of viewers. I mean, The White Lotus is currently listed as one of the most watched shows on streaming, but who will remember that in 5 years? But for those of us who had seen TOS episodes many, many times, it was the rehash of the Nomad story that really bit. After so long with no new Star Trek, we were waiting to be wowed with a new story and not just with spectacle. Star Trek: The Original SeriesEpisode “Balance of Terror”(1080p, 50:24): An episode tied to the Strange New Worldsepisode “A Quality of Mercy.”

I implore you to pay close attention to the series’ wonderful score from composers Sami Melumad and Jeff Russo. Russo has worked on all the contemporary Trek series. Here he provides the main theme, with shades of The Original Series, whilst Melumad masterminds the rest of the beautiful music heard across these ten episodes.WORLD BUILDING — Led by Production Designer Jonathan Lee and his team, the season’s production design utilized cutting-edge technology to create worlds prior to shoots, allowing the actors to fully immerse themselves into scenes rather than imagine the worlds around them in a green room. Through interviews with producers, cast and crew, fans will learn about the expertise involved in the development process and how the powerful technology was seamlessly integrated into the show.
