Description

The story is a delight in itself but would be a huge asset to any classroom teacher wanting to introduce Australia to his/her students. All she remembers is it has something to do with human food, so off they set on what becomes a tour of the famous cuisine of some of Australia’s most well-known cities. Details of our right to refuse admission can be found in our General Terms and Conditions for Tickets and Events. A lot of new words included with foreign animals, that make it difficult to learn because there's nothing telling us what the animal is, even though there are pictures. The first title was 'Hush the Invisible Mouse', and it was rejected by nine publishers, before being picked up for publication.

Now Grandma Poss is a whizz at bush magic and and devises a pièce de résistance, a magic that makes Hush invisible. It concerns a young female possum, named Hush, who becomes invisible and has a number of adventures. We’re committed to making your experience safe, comfortable and enjoyable, with a number of measures in place including regular cleaning of high-touch areas, air conditioning systems that maximise ventilation, and hand sanitiser stations positioned in all paths of travel.Such a lovely little adventure and it was a fun experience with all the foods but there's also that secret little dig at not wanting to be invisible which breaks my heart a little bit these days when I think of it with all my adult wisdom. We've no doubt that your students will absolutely love reading the story, it's a firm favourite here in the office, but that's not where the fun ends.

I chose possums as the main characters for this book because we had possums on our roof and the babies were adorable. The trend for popularising (and personifying) the country's native animals saw the creation of such classics as .The story is engaging enough - I liked the inclusion of so many uniquely Australian treats - but it is the artwork that really makes the book! Turns out, human food is the only way to make it happen and, in true Australian style, it isn't until Hush starts to eat a Vegemite sandwich that she starts to become visible. Perhaps you’re sufficiently familiar with a specific place/culture that you’re able to introduce a lesser-known animal or plant or custom or food to a young reader. Still, if you’ve the time to explain all the stuff in the book, it gives somewhat of an idea of some of Australian animals. To extend this idea a little further, though it is true that young children will accept almost anything in a well-written story, this is precisely the reason we need to be careful about offering them stories with a modern ideology.
