We have tested it ( read our full review here) and it quickly become our favourite laser engraver with 5W of optical laser power. With only 2W of optical laser power, the xTool infrared laser module is capable of engraving all types of metals – from stainless steel, brass, copper, bronze, aluminum, chrome, titanium and many more! Just a decade or two ago, these lasers were ridiculously expensive and only the biggest manufacturers were able to afford them. I decided to go with a 10W unit because I wanted to make sure that I did not outgrow the 5W unit too quickly - if that's even possible because the 5W unit received rave reviews for what it could do. Took me about 45 minutes to assemble it - as this was my first laser and I've never put one together before.

All the engravers we’ve listed here offer something unique that makes them stand out from the crowd. Back to that manual, I note that the latest firmware is readily available online on the Longer site (my engraver arrived with the latest firmware mid-March 2021) – but the online location of the manual for this engraver is not immediately obvious – as this is new so I guess that could be the reason, in any case, the full manual comes on the supplied SD+USB adaptor. Besides writing about tech and reviewing new products, Derek enjoys traveling, hiking, and photography.

There were many other laser options out there, but the Ray5 received fantastic reviews from everybody that uses one, and most of them were using the 5W version. I WAS provided with the unit by a marketing company but with no promises and I’ve made it clear I do not do “affiliate” deals – so this is as independent as you’ll get. Laser Spot: 50% smaller than other ordinary lasers, fixed focus compression spot, smaller spot, more focused energy, more delicate engraved products.

As I have no idea of your level of technical skill or the requirements of your country laws in terms of electricity supply etc, I accept no responsibility for any damage attributed to following advice in these pages. Just save your file to your TF card, the Ray5 will engrave or cut as the program you set and use Ray5 anytime and anywhere. If you want to engrave a lot of items or engrave/cut big designs, this could mean it will take significantly more time to do the same job. It is also a great laser cutter, but only for thinner materials (up to 4-6mm) because its laser beam is diverging quicker than other more expensive machines.

Personally I’d say someone who has previously put printer or engraver kits together might be more relevant? Laser engraving wood requires less power than engraving stainless steel, ceramics, stone or even glass. The machines are chosen by our objective and personal preferences from experience with working with all these machines and the decisions are not influenced by sponsorships or paid promotion.

The Twotrees TS3 ( link) is a 10W laser engraver that has a bit smaller working area compared to the rest of the machines, but it features a fully enclosed design like the bigger industrial laser cutters. I’ve just finished my work on the (supplied almost in one piece) little NEJE Master 2 and now Im here with the Longer Ray5 supplied by ZBANX – the RAY5 can genuinely be described as a KIT as there are lots of pieces to assemble. The S30 Pro should offer the same performance with some added accessories like the automatic air assist pump, limit switches and replaceable lens which will allow you to keep your laser engraving machine in top condition for many years.Wide Application Scene】Below is a list of some of the most popular laser engraving ideas: Company logos, Signage, Christmas ornaments, Spice jars, QR codes and barcodes for clients, Photo engraving, Personalized products, Business cards, Wine glasses, Key chains, Customized jewelry, Theme toy boxes, Coasters, Artwork, celebration and special occasion gifts, Custom metal cups. This is because laser cutting produces high-intensity laser light that can be dangerous to your eyes. This is also 10W machine, it is a great engraver, slightly lower performing laser cutter than the Sculpfun, but it features an awesome touchscreen offline controller that lets you engrave materials without the need to be connected to the computer. This is great for making series of engravings as you can take the machine outside so it doesn’t produce smoke in your garage if you don’t have an enclosure for your laser engraving machine.
