Location: On the desk at the abandoned military gate, just up the street from the City Hall Archives entrance in Old Town. That’s not to say I’m not already missing the books, because I am. Especially the characters. Zom-B contains some of my favourite cast members from any of my books. B Smith, Rage, Dr Oystein, Dan-Dan, Mr Dowling… They were fascinating to work on. I never know much about my characters when I start a story. They develop in a way I don’t fully understand, and I end up not being able to control them. a b O'Shaughnessy, Darren (1 January 2023). "/ Shanville Monthly / – Issue 270 – January 2023". DarrenShan.com . Retrieved 1 January 2023. Location: On the second floor of Cochrane’s Irish Pub, grab this key for the hidden bunker door in the basement. Having said all of the above, what I’m secretly really thinking about most at this stage is the reaction my readers will have to the big finale. It’s difficult, with a long series, to tie everything up in a way that will please the long-haul fans. When you invest so much of your time in a series as a reader, you end up wanting more than you do from a one-off novel. That’s why you so often hear people complaining about the ending of Harry Potter or The Dark Tower or (it must be said) The Saga Of Darren Shan. It’s not that the endings of those series are weak. It’s just that many readers have convinced themselves that the ending is going to be the greatest ending ever imagined, and they come away a trifle downhearted when it’s not.

Location: The key to the bunker is in the Central Plaza, right on Santa’s big chair in North Pole Village. A short novella titled Zom-B Circus, set between Zom-B Gladiator and Zom-B Mission, was released on 27 April 2014, following one of B's teachers, Cat Ward. [3] Plot [ edit ] But, thankfully, my brain hasn’t been ripped out by a zombie, and I haven’t fallen prey to any less exciting illnesses or accidents, so here I am in relatively good health and cheer. Now, personally, with Zom-B I believe I have come up with the greatest ending ever imagined by a writer, but then again, I believe that every time I finish a long series! I’m prepared for the worst thing a writer can possibly encounter – not outright negativity, but mere indifference – but I’m hoping that readers will be excited by the book’s ending, that it takes them by surprise by not being what they were expecting, yet at the same time ends up being more than they dreamed possible. And if it’s not, and I let some of them down, the way lots of us writers of long series tend to do in the opinion of many of our readers?

Effect: Increases the effectiveness of explosive-based critical hits with ranged weapons. Enemies are blown apart, and the killing zone is larger. Read a full summary of Zom-B by Darren Shan below. If you can’t remember what happened in Zom-B and you need a refresher, then you’re in the right place. Location: Found on the roof of the Burger Fiefdom in Medieval Town. To reach it, climb onto the awning from the Baron Von Brathaus stairs and follow the path all the way around to the burger restaurant second floor. Zom-B (alternatively known as the Zom-B Chronicles) is a young adult zombie apocalyptic- thriller novel series by written by Irish author Darren O'Shaughnessy under the pen name Darren Shan. The series is told by first-person perspective of B Smith, a teenager turned into a zombie. Like Shan's previous series, Zom-B is notable for exploring themes of racism, xenophobia, and the sociological concept of "us and them".

Location: The key is on the floor next to the lounge chairs to the left of the Pirate’s Catch Restaurant on the map. Shan [e]nters the zombie genre in a thoroughly bloody fashion with this slow-burning horror piece, which opens a planned 12-book series. Character development is impressive for a relatively short book, and Shan executes the transition from normalcy to wholesale terror masterfully. It's a strong start, but there's a lot of story left to go. [10]

in short

Location: Find this key in the Old Town Emergency Shelter, in the room to the left of the front entrance. It's different when I'm writing for a younger audience. I never set out to preach to them, and I certainly take them into many troubling moral waters, but I do feel like I have to wear something akin to a teacher's hat. I think children and teenagers have lots of yet-to-be-directed potential, and it's important that writers bear that in mind. It doesn't mean that you have to fill your books with unbridled hope and optimism, as many YA writers believe, but I do think you have to be careful if leading your readers into the darkness. You don't need to hold their hands, but you should provide some sort of a guiding light. Zom-B is] a clever mix of horror, fantasy and realism – about the damaging 'virus' of racial hatred and social paranoia. The horror scenes are well choreographed and not without the useful escape valve of humour. There is some earthy language ("I thought she was going to chew me a new arsehole," says B Smith) but it fits the tone and characters in the book rather than seeming gratuitous. [11] But it was also daunting because I knew I would have to take on the mantle of a racist, and I wasn't sure if I would be able to make that work in a children's book. If I'd been writing for adults it would have been different -- I don't feel that adults can be influenced by a book in the same way that a child can, and I never worry about treading a moral high ground in my books for older readers -- I feel like I have more of a license to take readers into uncomfortable areas, to explore the dark regions of the human experience without feeling the need to present any counter-arguments, figuring by the time you reach adulthood, you should have learned the difference between right and wrong, and if you haven't, then there's probably not a lot that a writer can do to reach you.

For a traditional zombie outfit, you can opt for distressed, ripped, or patched pants, with a messy but fashionable design to bring out the whole zombie vibe.
