Throw in a fictional background and a high-profile gangland criminal court case involving two notorious families, as news of a particular high profile court case breaks at home, and you’d be forgiven for wondering if author Andrea Mara has a mysterious sort of 20/20 future vision that makes her publication timing impeccable. I really enjoyed the suspenseful plot, good characterization and lots of twists and turns to keep the reader entertained and guessing. I honestly know if psychology thrillers are your thing this book was written for you was if scary no, no but it had me doubting my own thoughts regarding the case. The story is told in multiple timelines - the present time and past events, both only a few days ago and several years back. Marissa’s emotions are really well portrayed and you feel her pain and although Jenny has nothing to feel guilty about, you feel that too.

As the plot unfolds, it emerges that any number of acquaintances of theirs could have taken Faye - Aaron is not short of enemies. When she discovers her son isn’t there and never has been, her world is turned upside down and will never be the same again. What I loved so much about this book was the complexity of the story, you are pushed and pulled in multiple different directions and the number of red herrings and false starts will leave equally frustrated and enthralled - just when you think you have it sussed, you don't!Hide and Seek, her second thriller to be published in the UK and internationally, became an instant top ten bestseller. I only had a few niggles: the police presence is virtually nonexistent, I didn't really understand why Sive trusted Jude so openly and gave her such access into her life, and the ending was way too "catching up with a friend over coffee" style for my liking. When it came to working out who took Milo every single person was a suspect, so when the grand reveal comes its more shocking than I had expected.

It all ended well though – the rest of our family found us ten minutes later at Tower Bridge, and we got on with our touristing. Were you in such a rush to complete the day trip that you sent us to Tower Bridge rather than just next stop?Esther theady whose house she ends up at is by far my favourite character within the book and yet her role is under rated.

But I really hated the fact that when breakthroughs were happening, we are thrown into the past which has no relevance and than then present that you lose track of what’s going on. As the day wears on and fears grow, Sive and her high flying barrister husband Aaron retrace their steps, and those of his life in London decades before, to try and find Faye. Truth is stranger than fiction, or so it’s said, and happily for me, my kids spent most of their early years putting the heart crossways on me by temporarily disappearing and providing inspiration for future books.Andrea Mara’s inspiration for this latest novel came from an incident during her own childhood when she and her younger sister became separated from her parents on a family visit to London. Marissa Irvine believes her son Milo is on a post school playdate with Jenny’s son Jacob and duly arrives at 14 Tudor Grove to collect him only to find the front door opened by a complete stranger. Instead, she explains, as I detail the palpitations her book had given me while we chat over coffee a week later, the idea for the book stems from a real-life event from her own childhood. I was hooked within the first few pages; the stakes are sky-high, and the intensity and pace never let up.

Its one of the 1st books I've read, and I read a lot, where there is this perfect arc of the story being told and also the answers being revealed. This is a dark and gritty mystery, a psychological thriller which is really well written and very easy to read, in fact, it’s gripping from beginning to end.

Sive and Aaron's six-year-old daughter Faye goes missing on the London Underground, and no one saw a thing. What sort of person brings two young toddlers and a newborn baby in a pram to a London tube station in the middle of rush hour?
