Description

To get the “just right” level of moisture, use a nice, thin layer of balm or lotion applied twice daily, after first cleaning the skin. Wearing Saniderm While Showering, Swimming, and Exercising Unlike plastic wrap, Saniderm is a medical-grade, breathable, waterproof tattoo bandage. Saniderm is engineered to be permeable to gasses, like oxygen. These bandages alleviate many of the pitfalls that come with other tattoo healing methods. It can take time for a tattoo to heal, and the skin may look irritated after you have received your tattoo, especially for those with sensitive skin or if you have a bigger tattoo. From that, we created a product specifically for healing tattoos, thatcomes in sizes that are more suitable to the tattoo industry — and at less than half the price of the hospital brands! Is Saniderm Good for Tattoos? To avoid this, you keep the tattoo well-moisturized and covered with a tattoo bandage throughout the healing process. This keeps the skin from scabbing and allows the body to heal without creating a pesky shell that could potentially pull out the ink. Stage 2

Once you’ve removed your final Saniderm bandage, make sure to clean the tattoo area using lukewarm water and antibacterial soap. Then, tap-dry it using a clean paper towel and leave it to air-dry as well. At this point, you should be fine using thin layers of tattoo lotions to keep the tattoo hydrated. But, do NOT overdo the moisturization, since you can cause moisture buildup, prolonged healing, and infection of the tattoo. Additionally, since oxygen itself plays a huge role in allowing a tattoo to heal properly, smothering a new tattoo in plastic wrap and petroleum-based aftercare can be detrimental to the healing process. Tattoo removal – this is the most extreme and most expensive solution to your problem, but if nothing else works, tattoo removal is probably the best solution as well. Laser tattoo removal is the most effective way to get rid of an unwanted, ruined tattoo, so make sure to explore this option as well. Your second bandage can stay on longer than the first one. Saniderm says you can keep it on for 3-6 days however 6 days is ideal. It also prevents you from wetting the tattoo while showering or sweating, which could otherwise introduce unwanted germs to the tattoo and cause an infection. While using Saniderm, there is no need for the use of antibacterial ointments and different products (which shouldn’t be applied to a new tattoo in the first place). During the healing process, your body will try to seal its open wound by excreting a substance, called plasma, that will help this process. It is natural for our bodies to produce this healing element, which helps to break down dead tissue and rebuild new tissue. OPTIONAL STEP: Apply an extremely thin layer of an aftercare ointment or lotion (our favorite is Sanibalm) to the tattooed area before reapplying your Saniderm. If your tattoo is still weeping lymph fluid, this step is not needed as the area is already being moisturized. Do apply a quality tattoo ointment recommended by your tattoo artist to keep it moisturized and help it heal

Do not reapply any more bandages after the scabbing/flaking phase of tattoo healing has begun. If you find yourself bandage-less during this phase, make sure you’re keeping the area thoroughly moisturized. For a tattoo moisturizer, we strongly recommend Sanibalm.

Final Thoughts

Once you have thoroughly washed the tattoo, gently pat it dry with a little paper towel. Do not rub the tattoo, as this may cause irritation. Leave the tattoo uncovered for 15-20 minutes before reapplying another Saniderm tattoo bandage. This will allow any excess moisture in the tattoo to evaporate. Helpful Links: Although this new tattoo care method has been sufficient for many, there are plenty of cons to using this healing method.

You should remove or change your Saniderm bandage if you notice your tattoo bleeds or oozes more than expected (regardless of the time the bandage has been on). This generally occurs in tattoos with colorwork and heavy saturation, since there’s more damage to the skin and more excess ink the tattoo is getting rid of in the first few hours. Saniderm Daily Lotion is for long-term care to hydrate and protect the skin, so your tattoo continues to look flawless, and the colors look vibrant for years to come. It’s not just great for tattoo aftercare. It’s also a great daily hand and body lotion to deeply nourish the skin. Some people choose to leave Saniderm on their new tattoo for up to a week, while others only keep it on for a couple of days before they remove the wrap. Leaving the wrap around your fresh tattoo too long will cause some problems that might be hard to reverse. Sanibalm is made for freshly tattooed skin and helps soothe and hydrate itchy skin to promote healing. The most important thing is not leaving them on too long so they don’t come off prematurely and getting an infection from germs & bacteria seeping through the holes created by a removal/when it falls off naturally. FAQ Can you take Saniderm off after 3 days?Yes. Just as long as the bandage is not completely submerged in water. Water will not harm your tattoo at all. You can gently wash it with soap and water, but do not scrub the area too hard because that will irritate the skin around your new tattoos. One of the biggest benefits of this product is how it reduces the risk of contaminants. Remember, a new tattoo is a fresh wound that needs to be protected as it heals. Saniderm keeps the tattoo clean, prevents clothing and other irritants from rubbing or aggravating the skin, and allows the body to better maintain moisture so it can heal. After you get a new tattoo you may notice that it starts to release fluids or weep. This will be a great indicator of when you need to take off the Saniderm tattoo bandage. Your Saniderm will naturally start to weaken when your tattoo has been weeping for a while.

If you hate the trouble and uncertainty of traditional aftercare and having to apply ointment several times a day, then Saniderm is truly a miracle. Ask us about it during your next tattoo appointment and let us take all of the work out of healing your new tattoo!Don’t smoother the tattoo with too much ointment or lotion, which can clog pores and lead to a rash That said, it’s also possible to under-moisturize a tattoo, which can allow the skin to dry out, leading to more scabbing, flaking, and other signs of dryness. Saniderm bandages sound like a dream-come-true kind of innovation. Everybody in the tattoo industry appreciates people coming up with something that will actually help clients go through the healing stages of a tattoo without any big issues. With Saniderm, the most critical stage of a tattoo healing process is simply smooth sailing.
