Description

Sari and Michelle are your super-smart, empathic friends who have been there before you and want to save you a lot of unnecessary suffering. They won’t tell you what to do, but, like any good friends, they will help you figure out what you want to do. Your ADHD symptoms may or may not be better after reading this wise, insightful book, but your life definitely will be.” Live boldly as a woman with ADHD! This radical guide will show you how to cultivate your individual strengths, honor your neurodiversity, and learn to communicate with confidence and clarity. A feel-good pep talk for upper middle class white wives in the American Bible Belt who have had their worlds turned upside-down by a diagnosis of ADHD that loses all usefulness if you’re a woman who falls outside of this very narrow and privileged demographic. As I read, I found myself enjoying the interactivity. Sari and Michelle have a warm, conversational tone. They share ideas in an always caring and sometimes humorous way. They include stories from other women with ADHD, reaffirming you are not alone. And throughout, they ask you questions that encourage you to get to know yourself better. No one has all the answers. They sure don't have YOUR answers! Sari and Michelle never pretend they have all the answers. I love that they help you ask the right questions. I wish I had this book twenty years ago. Save yourself twenty years; get it today."

A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD: Embrace Neurodiversity A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD: Embrace Neurodiversity

I thought this book would illustrate examples of women with ADHD, why, from a clinical POV, women aren't diagnosed, a detailed report on symptoms etc. A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD is the first guided workbook for women with ADHD designed to break the cycle of negative self-talk and shame-based narratives that stem from the common and limiting belief that brain differences are character flaws. In this unique guide, you’ll find a groundbreaking approach that blends traditional ADHD treatment with contemporary treatment methods, such as acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), to help you untangle yourself from the beliefs that have kept you from reaching your potential in life. Sari will be sharing details of her personal and professional journey and what she has learned over the thirty-five years as a therapist for neurodivergent women, with her emphasis on radical acceptance. Hearing stories from other women who also have the same struggles as I do (messiness, running late, forgetfulness, bad habits, the list goes ON...), this book did help me feel less hopeless and more positive, thus not only embracing, but owning my ADHD. It’s something we can never actually get over or rid of. ADHD is part of who I am ... and it’s here to stay, whether I like it or not! I wish there was some discussion of of how adhd interacts with mental illness, as I struggle a lot with anxiety and that changes a lot of my behaviors so they’re not always recognizable as adhd traits.

We ADHDers do things differently. We feel things intensely ( I feel negative emotions as physical pain). We are excited by the things that interest us, and avoid ( like the plague) the boring stuff of life. Roberto Olivardia, PhD, clinical psychologist, and lecturer in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School Plus when you sign up, you'll also get access to an exclusive updated PDF excerpt from Sari's celebrated book, Journeys Through ADDulthood.

A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD by Sari Solden - Waterstones

No matter where you are on your ADHD journey, Sari has lots of wisdom to impart, and I can't wait to help share this with you all. I appreciated that I could understand a lot of the rhetoric in this book bc of tik tok, meaning the people on there aren’t just talking out of their asses. Linda Roggli, PCC, ADDiva Network for ADHD Women 40-and-better, author of Confessions of an ADDiva, and cofounder of ADHD Women's Palooza--Linda Roggli, PCC I really appreciate the time and effort that went into this beautiful piece. For anyone who has just recently been diagnosed, or is afraid to speak up to their family and friends about your condition, this is the confidence boost and self-clarity you need. This was really hard to get through it was so frustrating. I have learnt more from TikTok about adhd in women then from this book. It feels very very old fashioned and bleak. It doesn’t really hit the mark of any celebration of the benefits of non neurotypical folks take on the world. I listened to the audiobook version and I see their are currently 16 people waiting to borrow it next. I wish I could reach out to them and tell them to not give it the time.
