Later, Niamh takes some papers down to the room that should have been hers only to find the beautiful girl that she thought would be her friend - has been murdered. The language was sometimes too lyrical and flowery for the genre and it can sometimes be a little... cringe-y. You climb to the roof with a pitchfork in your hands. You summon the lightning. You chase the storm.” “See, that’s where you’re wrong, Juniper. I don’t chase the storm. I am the storm. I am a goddess in a land of pyramids and sand, and if I want, I can make all this blow away with the wind.” Of course not.” Juniper swallowed, her chest tightening. “I just don’t understand who would submit me for this sort of thing. I’m the world’s worst actress.”

I know.” Juniper glanced at his empty chair. After fifteen years of teaching music at Fallen Oaks Elementary, a recent round of budget cuts had left Mr. Torres jobless. Now Juniper could hear him milling around upstairs, choosing the perfect tie for another set of dehumanizing interviews. Five arrived, but not all can leave. Will the truth set them free? Or will their lies destroy them all? At a time when Ruby and Parker weren’t dating, a new boy (Shane) and his twin sister start at their school. She takes an instant liking to him. Parker is super jealous and wants to drive a wedge between them. Ruby and Shane grow closer, and Parker secretly films them in her room. He shares the video to everyone at their school, feeding the rumour that Shane had forced himself on Ruby. One year ago, there was a party. At the party, someone died. Five teens each played a part and up until now, no one has told the truth. Her mother didn’t answer, so Juniper snatched up the invitation. She made no attempt to be sly about it. One second the paper was fluttering in her mother’s fingers, and then it wasn’t. One second the breath was filling Juniper’s lungs, and then it was gone. One of Us is Lying meets This Lie Will Kill You but with a chilling supernatural twist that will keep you guessing until the very end . . . I loved the concept and the idea behind the story but the execution was just awful. Some parts were pretty creepy but I feel like a lot more could’ve been done with the whole story. The constant switching between characters was a complete miss for me because I guessed who the culprit was very early on and that just ruined all the fun.

At other times, the voice sounded as though the teenagers themselves were narrating - we followed their thoughts, and there were expletives used as modifiers. An example is the insertion of the phrase 'nope, that wouldn't do' into the narration, which is vastly different in tone from the lyrical, poetic prologue. The characters Niamh interacts with, all have warmth and by the end of the book, personally felt like they were my friends. I trusted them, I loved them, I adored them, but should I have trusted all of them? Plot twists, surprises, tension and a story that kept me gripped! So much so, that I finished it in a night which is an achievement all on its own as I’m a slow reader. Niamh has just moved to London to attend drama school. She is very excited and can not wait to start school. They realize they’ve been lured together by a revenge seeker who wants to unravel the truth about what actually happened that deadly night, one year ago. Brett was the only character I liked, and that was mainly because even though he was a bully he seemed to have genuine emotions. There’s a good mystery at the heart of This Lie Will Kill You and I was able to push my questions about the set-up to one side and watch with interest as the events that led up to the first death in the woods gradually became clear. The only question became how many deaths would follow…

The end of the book was the best part for me. I was hooked for the last 10 chapters and right at the end my jaw was dropped. The story is all over the place and constantly cuts between the past and the present. Which I understand is necessary to the plot and the story BUT it’s honestly easy to figure out the truth of what happened at Dahlia Kane’s Christmas Party and as to who really killed Shane just from the first mentions of the party and the little pieces of info given to us by the characters. You really don’t need to read the whole book to figure out who did what. I liked the fact that you pretty much know who did it from the halfway point even though the it's not confirmed until nearer the end. There's a sub-story around abuse both from a parent child point of view and that of romantic relationships. It's also a story of friendship and love. Oh and a bonus point for Gavin who demanded a bathroom break when fleeing a demented killer because no one does that in films and I completely would! Pitcher also does something which I wish authors would avoid and that is mentioning other contemporary works within their writing. Hear me out. If you mention “Harry Potter” and your book is kind of crap then guess what? I’m just going to be thinking about how I’d rather be reading Harry Potter. Please, just STOP.

See, that’s where you’re wrong. I don’t chase the storm. I am the storm. I am a goddess in a land of pyramids and sand, and if I want, I can make all this blow away with the wind.”

Determined to make it through her Drama Course, Niamh is placed at the Victorian Museum to put her drama skills to the test, and there she meets Tommy: he’s kind, fun, attentive, and really hot! . . . Nonetheless, there's something eerie about the museum. I thought that the characters were written beautifully and had that three dimensional element of feeling real to me. I loved Ruby. I thought she was so enthralling as a character, she was by far my favourite. I feel that this is an author who is taking the first steps on what promises to be a very successful career. I didn’t mind that though, I sort of pictured it like a movie, switching between characters to help the plot line progress. Author Luke Palmer introduces his new book, Play (Firefly Press) about four boys growing up together, the challenges, the friendships, and what hap...I read ThisLieWillKillYou allinoneday, and that’s both a compliment and a problem. On the one hand, I kept reading until I finished. On the other, I did that because the story felt so light that I kind of just wanted to get it over with. Pretty Little Lairs و Riverdale افتادم. You were right, it is on Saturday,” Mrs. Torres said. Her voice was breathy, and Juniper hated the thought of disappointing her. “They must’ve had a last-minute opening—” We want our comments to be a lively and valuable part of our community - a place where readers can debate and engage with the most important local issues. It's a familiar theme, very I Know What You Did Last Summer meets Pretty Little Liars, but the author owns it, runs with it, and throws it into the air as dark confetti as the reader watches this mystery unfold with their eyes.
