When certain aspects of his past came to light, my heart couldn’t help but bleed for him. But you hate him for what he did to Oraya, because of the hold he had on her soul for so long. But the understanding that washes over you because of what he went through is what you call character development.

i don't think this book had to be quite as long as it was, but it didn't really drag or feel in excess so i'm not saying that critically, more as a lukewarm observation. Other than him being an entitled brat, there is nothing to say about him because Oraya is the actual villain here. Anyway. Even if this book is completely different from "The Serpent and the Wings of Night", it kept me reading it fully "in one breath". I think it's set perfectly in the world Carissa is building. The pace of the action is different from TSatWoN, BUT it keeps you in the story with your heart in your throat non the less.I hesitate to use absolute words like "will" and "promise" and "I am a capable professional adult," but I fully plan/expect/hope that this book will be coming sooner than that. The March date is the latest it could be out, but it hopefully will come earlier.
