I do not mind its eventual soft projection or sillage, but on my skin (which sadly happens with A LOT of fragrances). AE has a prominent chamomile note and while it's a chypre it's also, well, an aromatic with herbal and spicy highlights. It is different to what is on trend right now, but for that person that wants to stand out, confidently, this is for you. Aramis 900 by Aramis opens open with herbal garden of green accords, coriander, rosewood with sparkling lemon and bergamot.

Aramis 900 trades the meadow-earthy chamomile of Aromatics Elixir, with the aldehydes mellowed, a brighter green-spicy coriander and the rose pushed more forward, reminding me a bit more of Jean Couturier Coriandre than AE in its top notes. My Dad had this fragrance several years ago and when I saw the older vintage bottle of this in his cabinet, I had to try it out.This is Aromatics Elixir, slightly more low key and "behaved", but beautiful in its own right because of it. For some strange reason it reminds me of when I was young and it smelled like the inside of my aunt's jewelry box. It's nice to spray on when just casually spending an unplanned day ahead of an anticipated evening when one can wash up, change clothes and their fragrance moving towards a new chapter. Or maybe you're lounging around in a bathrobe in the morning, spraying it on and having your morning coffee and newspapers, planning to have a shower later anyway. In fact, I think you could get an almost exact, but stronger, replica by layering Jean Couturier Coriandre with Aromatics Elixir.

This is essentially Aromatics Elixir pour Homme, I wore it for a few months, and was twice asked if I was wearing Clinique's great creation. It makes you think of those old perfumes that our grandmothers or mothers used when they went out to "hang" 🤭. The seller kindly included a free sample tin of Big Smoke which wasn’t one that I would have purchased from its description but it has turned out to be my favourite of the three. This scent is perfect for daily use, and it falls right in the middle of being too strong or too light, striking an ideal balance. If Polo reminds me of an aging gigolo, then Aramis 900 would remind me of an aging, but classier, gigolo.

The same age-group who scoops up Bleu de Chanel, Aventus, or whatever the latest, greatest flavor of the day happens to be. I kept tossing the bottle from one shelf to another, even threw it on roof, brought back in, finally gave it shelter with other bottles (didn’t want to dispose it) guess what, I am smelling it’s sprayer right now and it still smells loud and amazing! Sandalwood and amber with patchouli and civet complete this classic composition combined with oak moss and vetiver. The rose blooms delicately with his chemistry, nothing like the herbs in Aromatics Elixir which I love for myself.
