With a Snapdragon 685 CPU and 4GB of RAM at its heart, the Honor Pad X9 should be a welcome step up from the outgoing Pad X8. It’s not the most muscle you’ll find in a budget tablet, but is as potent as they come if screen size is your top priority. Next up is the BoerHang Case for Honor X8. The inner surface of this case adopts a soft TPU design, thin and durable. The outer surface of the protective shell adopts a textured design and a non-slip and scratch-resistant material design which does not fade. The four corners strengthen the protection design. The protective shell is higher than the screen and camera, protecting the phone more effectively. The Honor Pad X8 comes kitted out with a 10.1-inch IPS display with a 1920×1200 resolution. The Honor Pad X9, meanwhile, boasts for a larger 11.5-inch LCD display with a Full HD+ 2000×1200 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Honor Pad X9 has a pair of cameras – one front-facer for video calling, and one at the rear for photos. Both have modest 5MP sensors and f/2.2 apertures, with no fancy extras like optical image stabilisation. Honor doesn’t even say if they have autofocus, so they are basic at best.

Simpler games like Angry Birds Friends run well. So, while it’s not a gaming tablet, it’s especially suitable for casual games. Software: Android It’s an LCD panel, so you shouldn’t expect impeccable contrast or shadow detail on par with a pricier OLED tablet, and the harsh overhead lighting of Honor’s launch event meant reflections were a bit troublesome. Still, film trailers still had a great amount of colour pop. The firm claims 100% sRGB colour coverage, and there’s the usual calibration options within the Settings menus to set things up to your personal preference. It looks and feels like a pricier device, with an aluminium body that’s flex-resistant and doesn’t collect fingerprint smudges, thanks to the matte finish. A gunmetal grey colour scheme is easy on the eye, and branding is kept to a minimum with just a small Honor logo in the centre. TÜV Rheinland low blue light certification test conditions: With Eye Protection mode enabled, the screen display passes the TÜV Rheinland low blue light test (excluding the color temperature adjustment portion). HONOR FullView Display is a common concept in the industry, usually referring to a screen with narrowcharger and the cable, starting from 3% power, under standby with the screen turned off. Actual performance may vary slightly due to individual differences, user habits, and environmental factors. Software is the make-or-break feature for tablets, and the Honor-designed Magic UI sadly falls down onto the ‘break’ side of things. standard calculates the screen ratio based on the area of the screen's visible area to the area of the The resolution is 1,920 x 1,200. The Pad X8 can hold its own quite well against similarly priced rivals in benchmarks like Geekbench 5 and the 3D Mark Wild Life test. In Geekbench 5, it’s a bit more powerful than the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 and the 3rd generation Lenovo Tab M10. The graphics performance is even significantly higher than the 12-inch Honor Pad 8.A 2-megapixel webcam sits right in the center at the front, which does not take detailed pictures. In fact, videos in particular look a bit blurry – still okay for video chats, but not good. The data comes from the HONOR Laboratory. Actual data may vary depending on the configuration, manufacturing process, and measurement method. I think the Xiaomi Redmi Pad, which I also tested, is much more exciting. It often costs just a bit more, but has a metal casing, a 90 Hz display, more storage and better performance. Overall, the display is okay. It’s fully laminated, the viewing angles are nice and wide, and colors are reproduced properly. It could be a bit brighter for outdoors, but if you use it indoors for the most part, the brightness is okay.

The resolution is 1200 x 2000, which technically counts as 2K, though its use of LCD tech and 60Hz refresh rate means it’s not the best-looking display around. However, it’s also clear that it’s not one of the most powerful devices out there, as the benchmarks have shown. You can only play PUBG Mobile with HD graphics – and it runs great. Asphalt 9 also runs with occasional stutters, but the graphics do not look particularly nice here.I think the Magic UI is okay, but not as good as Samsung’s OneUI, for example. There are also some in-house apps preinstalled, but they are much weaker than apps like Samsung Notes. Compared to many other Android tablets on the market, the Honor Tab 8 is pretty large, and you’re certainly not going to be using it one-handed.
