Description

Alex is a social worker and sees a child...a quiet little girl...that she can not forget....that she does not forget...that she is incapable of forgetting. It is worth mentioning that whilst Patty Duke and Tracy Nelson are the stars of "No Child of Mine the supporting performances are first rate. This is especially the case as the family end up divided over Tammy's decision and their mother's reaction with G.W. Bailey delivering a quietly supportive performance as Lucille's husband. No Child of Mine is a 1997 British docudrama- television film on ITV starring Brooke Kinsella. It documents the true case of a girl named Kerry who was sexually abused throughout her childhood. [1] It premiered on Tuesday, February 25, 1997 in the United Kingdom. This has some interesting ideas but they didn't quite come together in the way I was expecting. Read this if you like stories about motherhood and expectations of women.

The story is not fictitious. “Kerry”, now at university, wrote to the film-maker when he was researching the subject of child abuse, asking for nothing more than anonymity and the chance to prevent other children from suffering as she had. This was a beautiful book...in spite of the subject matter. I could not stop reading it. It is a story of families...sad ones who are lost and broken and without any hope at all until sometimes just a teeny bit of hope is able to work its way through by loving caregivers or even the kindness of strangers. The narration is also hideously unsympathetic towards all of the characters in need. Describing the vulnerable children in care as preyed upon until they become feral. Remarking that children from "the rough estate" should go to school or get a job to better their lives. Urm what now?!And in a way, the babies were right; who were they but pieces of their mother stitched together into a tiny, new body?” In fact, privately, she's pretty upset about it. Essie is currently in law school, almost through, ready to take the bar exam early the following year, how is she going to make that work now? The baby will be three months old when she is supposed to sit for the bar?

I enjoyed this book, but I didn’t love it. However, Nichelle Giraldes spins a fascinating tale of hardships, love, grief, and what it can really be like to grow another human being within yourself.

I hated this sentence! It's offensive and how would someone with a scar on their face feel reading it. I surprised even myself with the high rating I gave "No Child of Mine" , but the way it managed to get under my skin was no less surprising to me. It's definitely a book that if you give it a chance, you can't go wrong. Just do not expect action in it, let the emotions lead you.

In addition to Essie's perspective, we also get a historical perspective following two women, Isabelle and Anna. While this made for TV film is not gratuitous and with film that looks like it was taken on a potato, the performance from Brooke Kinsella in the lead role is compelling with a message that is delivered in a direct and painful way that leaves very little to the imagination. In the end, I loved this, which says a lot, because I hated it most of the time I was reading it. This book is about social workers and their role at protecting children. I rated it 5 stars because it has been a very long time since I've read a book that really engrossed me, moved me, and ate at my soul like this one did. I just had to keep reading to find out what happened next. When one terrible night things go pear-shaped in a big way, the press go after Alex in a big way, blaming her for what has happened. As they do! They are out to sensationalise it all and Alex has to hide away at the rectory hoping it will quieten down soon. And she has put herself in a very compromising place. Go Alex! Essie Kaur never imagined being a mother. Then she finds out she's pregnant soon after moving into a new house. The house is old and creepy at times. Strange things begin to happen. Even her husband is acting different. Then there are rumors of a family curse.
