I thought this would be an interesting take on the franchise I loved so much growing up. But I was instantly reminded of why I didn't read the books when I was younger. There's just something about the character's voice that I don't vibe with and never did.

The Princess Diaries (11 book series) Kindle Edition

It is a charming, sweet, adventurous historical romance with lots of humor, mystery, and loveable characters. With not just Genovia's but her own future hanging in the balance, Mia's got some choices to make. And what she decides might determine not just the next four years but . . . forever! The heroine, Finnula Crais, is extremely likable. She's kind, fierce, brave and outspoken. She's good with a bow and arrow, has keen hunting instincts and she wears pants. On the other hand, the hero, Hugo Fitzstephen is extremely boring. He is a handsome womanizer with a knightly heart and he is not much else.

Royal Wedding – For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia’s gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to pop the question! The answer was a royal oui. For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia’s gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn’t need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui . The dialogues are sparkling, the hassles between Finnula and Hugo are delightful, and obviously they enjoy them as much as the reader. The books are noted for containing many popular culture references from the 2000s that influence some of the plot. These issues aside, it is a cute, fast-reading book for days when you don't want to overthink what you are reading.

Princess Diaries a Real Place? - CBR Is Genovia From The Princess Diaries a Real Place? - CBR

I did not care for Hugo at all (I thought he was kind of a tool) and the book seemed to be longer than it needed to be. I didn’t think the character of Jamie served much purpose. He's a tall, handsome knight with a secret. She's an adventurous beauty with more than a few secrets of her own. Finnula needs money for her sister's dowry, and fast. Hugo Fitzstephen, returning home to England from the Crusades with saddlebags of jewels, has money, and lots of it. What could be simpler than to kidnap him and hold him for ransom? Meg is now writing a new children's series called Allie Finkle's Rules for Girls. Her new paranormal series, Abandon, debuts in Summer of 2011.

The Princess Diaries Series by Meg Cabot - Goodreads

I loved this book so much gave me real Classic and Renessance vibes to it!! It was a book about a Princess who falls for a Prince named Hugo and they fall in love but than tragedy strikes them as well as a bunch of other things too.First Mom announces that she’s dating Mia’s Algebra teacher. Then Dad has to go and reveal that he is the crown prince of Genovia. And guess who still doesn’t have a date for the Cultural Diversity Dance? The earliest two books in the series are the ‘Princess Diaries’ released in October 2000. The second publication of the series was the second volume entitled “Princess in the Spotlight” that was released in June 2001. It is also known as the Take 2. From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding—but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare. The Nostalgia—I loved Meg Cabot when I was younger. She was absolutely part of my foundation as a reader. I was really excited to revisit Mia and her friends and family for this reason. But I think I remembered the books wildly differently…
