Originally designed to provide robust and reliable network communication in event of nuclear war (no, we’re not making it up), network connection of computing devices is something which is now part of everyday life. Chances are you’re using it to read this blog piece, right now. I have a fully-hardware based setup with multiple synthesizers and multiple sequencers, but I use a Squarp Pyramid as a brain. Getting the control scheme routings right has been a struggle. I started off with a MOTU MIDI Express XT, which did not work. Even the most basic tasks need to be done right; it’s surprising how many of our competitors interfaces get it wrong. We engineered mioXC, from the ground up to, to be the interface we’d want to use ourselves. ETA: My brain was misremembering on the Mio10 - USB 1-4 is a port to DAW while 5-10 were a single port in the DAW.

mioXL’s OLED display and encoder wheel gives you a crisp clear way of monitoring MIDI traffic, viewing, and selecting presets. Odd that the four output ports on the front panel are not visible to the computer. You get the first 8 and that's it. So this morning I've spent time trying to dig in the the MioXL. I also own a Mio10 which I originally mainly used as a central MIDI hub so that everything could talk to everything - and this worked great! I now have two interfaces because my space grew (yay!) and I have synths on both sides of the room now. My goal was to route MIDI between the two units over MIDI RTP (which I haven't yet figured out how to really do) because all my hardware sequencers are connected to the MioXL while I have all my keyboarded synths connected to the Mio10. Easily store and recall unique MIDI routing, filter and merging setups to preset scenes, and recall them all directly via the mioXL™ front panel. So did you get a definitive answer as to how many ports this can surface to a DAW? Right now, I have the USB MIDI ports* (I didn't realize only 7 show, and not 8. I'll need to try them out) and 8 of the 12 DIN outputs visible. I want to connect two of them via a direct ethernet cable, but not give up DIN ports. The box includes 1X mioXL, a USB cable to connect it all together and power for your XL device (batteries are not included), as well as an Ethernet connection that will be used if needed. Software-wise, we found it easy to navigate and figure out on our own with little help from others who may know more than us. Best thing available at this point, not perfect but I can't think of another thing on the market right now that has as much going for it.

Driver Compatibility - Interfaces that use their own drivers have to be updated all the time, or they stop working properly. Likewise some designs were USB Class-Compliant years ago, but today they aren't anymore. We engineer our drivers to today's strict guidelines, and keep them updated, to ensure compatibility for years to come. iConnectivity's mioXL USB MIDI Interface is a versatile device that can be used to connect up to 22 devices simultaneously. It has an array of networked ports, including ones equipped with built in sound cards so you don't need any additional software or hardware--they're ready for use right out the box.

mioXL's display, rotary encoder and capacitive touch controls make navigating presets and monitoring MIDI traffic easy With mioXL™ you’re able to streamline and expand your MIDI setup, no matter how massive and demanding. Even though it’s our most powerful MIDI interface, mioXL™ is still accessible to all users, allowing you to do whatever you want with MIDI faster, better, and in creative and exciting new ways. Ethernet RTP-MIDI Network port - 22 virtual network ports can easily be assigned to onboard DIN and USB ports as well as any other connected computing devices. These make all MIDI devices accessible to Mac, PC, iOS and other mobile computing devices via a single cable. I was excited to get this device as I have a lot of USB synths, as well as MIDI DIN equipment. I wanted to replace my MIDI interface and USB hubs with the MIO XL, and just use the network connection to run all my gear. The configuration is easy and straightforward, and had the network and DIN working perfectly in no time. The one star is because connecting USB devices was a nightmare!!!

Performance and stability bugfixes going across both platforms. This includes firmware loading, RTP connections, and device discovery. Performance Optimized - A MIDI interface that works too slowly is useless. mioXC uses a powerful 32-bit ARM Cortex processor, ensuring dense MIDI and SysEx streams are managed with ease. Included support for routing for iConnectMIDI2+ and mio2. These devices have support for routing, filtering, remapping, and preset save/load.

mioXL's OLED display and encoder wheel gives you a crisp clear way of monitoring MIDI traffic, viewing, and selecting presets.
