Some of the themes in this are darker due to its qualities in common with traditional pieces of the thriller genre so it may not be for those much younger but I would recommend from around 14 up. At other times, the voice sounded as though the teenagers themselves were narrating - we followed their thoughts, and there were expletives used as modifiers. An example is the insertion of the phrase 'nope, that wouldn't do' into the narration, which is vastly different in tone from the lyrical, poetic prologue. Someday Ruby's soul would dance into the darkness, and they would reunite. There would be eyes like eternal twilight and moon-pale skin. A mischievous smile. And maybe, if everything went exactly as planned, her broken heart would heal and her pain would soften to sweetness. I’ll be trying my hand at a book review today that will let you in on my thoughts without spoiling it for anyone in case you fancy reading it. So no spoilers today.

It's a familiar theme, very I Know What You Did Last Summer meets Pretty Little Liars, but the author owns it, runs with it, and throws it into the air as dark confetti as the reader watches this mystery unfold with their eyes.Lexile ® HL690L The Lexile reading levels have been certified by the Lexile developer, MetaMetrics® I loved the concept and the idea behind the story but the execution was just awful. Some parts were pretty creepy but I feel like a lot more could’ve been done with the whole story. The constant switching between characters was a complete miss for me because I guessed who the culprit was very early on and that just ruined all the fun.

Of course not.” Juniper swallowed, her chest tightening. “I just don’t understand who would submit me for this sort of thing. I’m the world’s worst actress.”It has been described as Clue meets Riverdale, and although I haven’t read Clue, I do watch Riverdale and I can kind of see why that connection has been made. Five arrived, but not all can leave. Will the truth set them free? Or will their lies destroy them all? alas, i have been reading books on my phone for the past month and this unfortunately had to be the book i was reading when i decided i didn’t wanna do that anymore since i have 30 books cramming my physical tbr shelf.

Its not much of a mystery (its pretty easy to figure out who dunnit), but there was a twist at the end that I was not expecting. The friendship with Jess, the family closeness and the love interest scenes were a wonderful addition to the suspense we get, like breathing a bit of fresh air as well. I loved it when scenes made me giggle or give me the butterflies. It was very light as well, which helped break the scary moments and make you believe everything She needed to be strong. No she needed to be cold, like an unfeeling doll. Porcelain limbs couldn't tremble, and a heart made of plastic couldn't ache this terribly. It couldn't break. It couldn't bleed.” Given the type of novel that "This Lie Will Kill You" is, if the writing were its only issue it could pass with a 2.5/5 star review for me. A solid "meh". It's fine. It served its purpose. Unfortunately, the rest of the book is kind of a mess as well. The language was sometimes too lyrical and flowery for the genre and it can sometimes be a little... cringe-y.
