Another great feature of this mower is an easy to see battery gauge on the top of the mower; you would think this is standard with all cordless mowers, however, this is not the case. Well done WORX for including this! The Worx WG779E.2 34cm lawnmower uses two 2.0Ah 20V batteries simultaneously for extra power and runtime. With intellicut technology, the mower adjusts its speed and power to grass condition therefore providing constant cutting power. Six height settings give you the cut you want, all with the ease of a single lever cutting depth adjustment. Intellicut technology adjusts speed automatically with different grass conditions so it keeps consistent cutting efficiency in dense grass.

As with all cordless lawn mowers, not being tethered by the cord not only makes it easier to mow the lawn, but safer, quieter and more environmentally friendly. As mentioned above the charge to cut ratio is good and is an aspect which beats its competition, but in saying that the mowing/charging time doesn’t directly affect you, after all the lawn will still be getting mowed! Higher settings a good choice for lower maintenance gardeners that mow less frequently. Keep the blade hight and you won’t remove too much grass at any one time, avoiding issues like scalping while encouraging healthy lawn development. The WG779E.2 is equipped with one 34cm wheeled metal mower blade that gives them two very effective benefits… The mower is light and easy to turn on its side for cleaning. I just use a stiff hand brush to sweep leftover grass from the blade area, base and wheels before I put it away. With the batteries in all you need to do is attach the grass box and insert the safety key – a handy feature to prevent kids from taking the mower for a spin. Then press the bar on the handle to operate. Mark one more thought…has it ever occurred to you that a mower with the lowest two settings of 20 and 30mm such as this one effectively rules out the use of the lowest 20mm one if you adhere to the rule of never lowering the grass height by more than 1/3?! Want your garden to look like a freshly cut football field? A rear roller produces a striped effect – gently flattening the grass for a well-manicured result. Cordless means poor battery life, right?

One thing the Flymo 300 scores slightly higher is the height adjustment. On the Flymo 300 there is a single lever on the top side of the mower with a large handle, this makes adjusting the height very smooth and easy. The height adjustment on the WG779E.2 is smaller and located towards the front of the mower. Adjustment seems to be that bit more difficult with the WORX and not so nicely balanced as with the Flymo. This is no big deal as you are not constantly adjusting the height but worth a mention anyway. One of the most notable things about the power system here is that the rechargeable batteries are power shareable, so if you’ve got other WORX tools in the shed, you’ve now got two spare batteries. The 4.0Ah also weighs more than the smaller, 2.0Ah so this might affect your decision if you are looking to powershare the battery with other Worx tools. While a heavier battery is not that noticeable in a mower, you might want to use the lighter 2.0Ah in things like cordless drills. However, the 4.0Ah is comparable in size and weight to the large batteries I have used on cordless drills from multiple brands and well worth the extra expense if you want the benefit or longer cutting times (a must for larger gardens). If you’re looking for a cordless lawn mower that offers the ability to create stripes on the lawn then the WORX WG743E.1, unfortunately, won’t cut it. However, if this is the only downfall, we’re confident that it isn’t the end of the world.

Hyundai HYM460SPE Review: A Cut Above?

This is a great selling point for many UK buyers, as weather conditions mean we often need to leave the grass to grow longer before its suitable to mow it. Knowing this mower handles longer grass with ease is a good sign for any buyer based in the UK. The blades on this model offer a generous 40cm cutting width which means that your efficiency is going to be handsomely improved, this is especially important on larger lawned areas or those that require a little more attention after winter, for example. The handle folds away for easy storage so it won’t end up taking up masses of space in your shed or outbuilding. Furthermore there are two feet at the rear of the mower allowing you to store this product vertically, saving even more space.

With a grass box capacity of 30 litres, you may not be able to get a better deal for a cordless mower. This means you won’t have to experience frequent box evacuations when working for a longer period. The grass box had an indicator so that it will be easier for you to monitor its progress. It is easy to remove, you only need to lift the flap and unhook it. Practicalities Also, metal blades are sharper with more cutting power for the most satisfactory result. You can sharpen the blade, unlike a plastic blade, so that you can cut effectively for a tidier finish. The eco mode is really useful if your lawn has been cut recently and you don’t require the additional power to cut longer grass with the turbo mode, this eco setting does extend the mowing time considerably. For instance, if you buy this mower and then decide you need a hedge trimmer, you can buy a compatible WORX tool without the battery to save some cash. If you buy this tool with a battery, you can use it to further increase the runtime on your mower. Cutting Width For example, the easy-start feature is far more preferable to the pulling/recoil method of the petrol lawn mower which, if you’ve ever used you will know, can be a nightmare and often painful to start. The easy-on safety switch works like a charm. WORX WG743E.1 User Manual Furthermore, the WORX WG743E.1 boasts an edging ability that truly is second to none – never again will you have portions of uncut grass around the perimeter of the lawn. As someone who has tested and reviewed many different lawn mowers, I was eager to get the WORX WG779E.2 cordless mower out on the lawn. This is one of the top-selling cordless models in the UK, but I wanted to see for myself just how well it performed.

Does this make it more practical compared to its closest competition? Well, yes I think it does for people with smaller lawns and limited space for storage. There is also a very handy and well positioned large central handle that makes carrying the 13 kg mower to the garage or shed very easy. This is the first cordless mower I have used and I was warned that the tech involved often makes them quite heavy. That certainly wasn't an issue and I found it easy to move around and take out of my small, cluttered outbuilding. This is a relatively lightweight piece of garden equipment that can be easily folded away in between uses.It lets you choose to cut from anywhere between 20mm to 70mm with 6 separate cutting lengths. Just make sure you don’t set it at the shortest setting from the start when the lawn has significant growth, instead start at a higher setting and gradually work your way down. This gives the areas of small grass time to catch up with the long, resulting in a more even and healthy looking lawn. In comparison, the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 takes the same 2 hours to charge as the WG779E.2 but the the WORX will last longer with the ability to cut a lawn up to 350 m². This is surprising as the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 weighs 3 kg less than the WG779E.2.
