Preamp/Effect Box/Speakers/HP: Schiit Saga OG 5692 tube, ampsandsound forge TAD KT66 or JJ KT88/JJ 6SL7, Yamaha HS7+HS8, CA Andromeda, AKG K712, DCA Aeon X Open, Hifiman Susvara, Sony MDR 7506 (ETA Mini C) Next, you have a High Trim function which gives you detailed control over the high frequency response. However, because I'm so used to these speakers now I am much more inclined to use these for my DJ sessions too. They portray a very fair sound spectrum. The KRK's can make you tired when you listed to them too much (because of the V-shaped sound signature), but these Yamaha's just keep you energized throughout. I bought these monitors for a home studio situation, that includes playing VST instruments through them, my guitars, recording, mixing, mastering etc. I wanted an all round good pair of monitor that won't overpower a regular sized room that wasn't mean as a studio. At a decent budget.

Allowing you to get the perfect sound to match your requirements and the acoustics of your room, the HS7 has two dedicated response controls. The only way to explain the difference in listening from low budget studio monitors or HiFi speakers to this (mid budget) monitor, is listening to music under water, then taking your head out of the water, and then the music and everything gets defined and cristal clear. Cons: May seem a little pricey for a home studio, but worth every penny. Other than that, at this time I have none. Construction is very solid. Sturdy, nothing rattles or whatever even cranked. But that's to be expected I think. Its bi-amp design gives you 60W LF and 35W HF for incredibly high-performance 70W power amplification.

As a result, you can enjoy solid and nicely defined bottom end along with clear, accurate mids with extremely low distortion no matter the output level. High Performance AmplifierWith an advanced design regulating the magnetic response, these transducers boast beautifully natural transitions. The Yamaha HS7 active studio monitor sits between the compact HS8 and the heftier HS8 in terms of form factor, striking a solid balance between the two. This makes the HS7 monitor ideal for small to medium-sized studio spaces where you can appreciate the low-end extension. The HS7 is worth considering over the HS5 if you require extra onboard bass presence and is also a more affordable alternative to the HS8 if you’re after a larger monitor for your studio.

Each component’s materials and design were carefully re-examined, then optimized, to drastically improve the accuracy of signal reproduction throughout the audio spectrum. – Tweeter Buy the Yamaha HS7 powered monitor from Professional Music Technology now and enjoy fantastic audio achieved through painstaking research, design and development. Yamaha HS7 Active Studio Monitor Matched Pair Specs: Yamaha's HS series comprises the HS5 and the HS7, and either model can be used alone or teamed with the HS8S subwoofer. I usually discourage the use of subwoofers in smaller studios as the extended bass end can exacerbate the acoustic problems that are prevalent in small, untreated rooms. However, a smaller sub, such as the HS8S, does have the advantage that you can put the main speakers where they meet ergonomic requirements while placing the sub in a position that gives the most even bass response. In my own view the sub would be best combined with the HS5s as the HS7s already have enough low end for most small spaces (they are specified as covering 43Hz to 30kHz, but where the studio is garage-sized or bigger the HS7/sub combination would be appropriate.Desktop Chain 1: Hifiman Susvara / HS8S+HS7 -> Magni Piety / A&S Forge 300 ohm tap -> Saga -> Yggdrasil More Is Better Non Oversampling Absolute Phase Inverted -> AK SP2000 (toslink, Roon) -> Surface Pro 2017 I had very good monitors in the past (also Yamaha, other Alesis, etc) and though I had a good listening experience, but I was wrong.

I needed a pair of well recommended monitors for my small home studio, recording guitar and vocals. The previous appraisals here on Thomann were pretty much all good, so I went along with all those that were happy with these speakers! I was surprised the date on it was 2018 seeing how I bought it year and half later (at Guitar Center -- large musician retailer in US). Must not sell many of them at that location.

Why we love it…

Yamaha have equipped the HS7 monitor with an amplifier that has been perfectly matched with the transducers to give you optimum performance. This architectural design anchors the cabinet's corners thus improving enclosure durability whilst also eliminated unwanted resonance. As a result, you get even purer sound.
