Killer Animatronics– Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy transform from cute and cuddly into creepy and killer through a combination of costumed performers and cutting-edge puppetry. Ah yes, the notorious dance scene. In one of the film’s most famous sequences, Willow does a nude, erotic dance against the wall separating her bedroom from Howie’s, sending the virginal police officer into a paroxysm of repressed lust as he lies sweating in his bed. But while Ekland was okay with going topless, she did not want her rear end filmed, so that part of the dance sequence utilized a body double. Paul Giovanni's music score is also very unusual. At times the music is calm and relaxing, even seductive, and other times grotesquely intense. It certainly has an identity of its own which is as misleading as that of the actual film. (Listen to Giovanni's Gently Johnny and Magnet's Sunset).

It’s kind of very barren where we were,” says Ekland. “This was the ’70s, so technology was not what it was today… extras would not be shipped in from Shepperton or Pinewood [Studios] or wherever they collect them. They would just use whoever happened to be around. School children, the hairdresser, the guy who owned the pub. So for a lot of those people, the locals, it was a great fun big event.” FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S: From Game to Big Screen– Feel the frights of Freddy Fazbear’s come alive as the film recreates the game’s world with immersive environments and wild surprises that’ll haunt longtime fans and newcomers alike.

I was finally told, when I was working in a play in Glasgow that it was a Glaswegian stripper,” she says now. “And I would say that if you look at the movements, it’s not a normal girl who’s just moving like that. She is working that wall and swinging that thing everywhere. So it was a stripper, I am pretty certain. I like my bottom better, but I didn’t want you to see it, so therefore, we went with her bottom.” Shattering all-time records at the box-office, Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s, the haunting new horror film based on the video game series created by Scott Cawthon, will be available with never-before-seen bonus content on Digital November 28, 2023, and 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on December 12, 2023, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Plus! Joining us at the Duke of York’s Picturehouse for a special one-off show on Wed 21 June, we’re delighted to welcome director Robin Hardy’s sons, Dominic and Justin Hardy, who are currently making a documentary about their father and his cult film. For such an important film, everything has been done to ensure that the transfer is the best it can possibly be, and for the most part it is amazing, but you cannot expect miracles, there are elements of the Final and Director’s cuts that no matter the technology simply will not stand up to a native 4K scan of the original negative, and they still show huge degradation compared to the surrounding material. So, please, temper your enthusiasm, as it always did, and it always will; unless someone decides to dig up a certain section of the M4 ....Please note that some of the screencaptures that appear with this article are taken from the 4K Blu-ray and downscaled to 1080p. Therefore, they do not accurately reflect the quality of the 4K content on the 4K Blu-ray disc, including the actual color values of this content. Yet the remote nature of the shoot and some of the locations and towns used to create the island of Summerisle not only made filming difficult but forced the production to utilize whatever resources were at hand, including casting locals as the island’s inhabitants. The film's observations about religion, its purpose and use by people living in closed communities also feel remarkably modern. During the final act, in particular, there are many truths about the dangerous vacuum which religion is capable of creating in such communities. A second generation 35mm intermediate positive produced in 1973 was used to replace a small section with unrepairable damage in the original negative. The additional footage is sourced from 35mm prints, which are the only known sources for this material. Colour grading and restoration were completed by Silver Salt Restoration UK who dedicated over 500 hours to fix physical damage to the 35mm negative, manually clean and remove dirt, sparkle and scratches. The colour grade used was previously approved by Robin Hardy and replicated here.

Seriously confused, Howie attempts to talk to the local residents, but after a few short conversations he realizes that everyone is lying to him. Later on, he also witnesses a number of strange rituals which confuse him even more. When he eventually meets the wealthiest and most respected man on the island, Lord Summerisle (Christopher Lee), Howie is stunned to learn that the rituals are in fact part of everyday life. Lionsgate’s 4K disc presents the restoration of the film’s “final cut” as approved by Rob Hardy in 2013, and a pre-film disclaimer notes that the restoration had to rely on 35mm positives for the material excised from the original theatrical release. The discrepancy in image quality between these scenes and those restored straight from the negative are noticeable, but the overall image is warm and filmic, with even grain distribution and stable color balance across all footage. The original 2.0 audio ably creates an enveloping mix of ambient nature sounds, folk melodies, and dialogue with no discernible issues and a clear presentation of each element. Extras In the film, Ekland plays islander Willow MacGregor, the sexually liberated daughter of the innkeeper at the island’s Green Man Inn, whose job it is to tempt and seduce the devoutly Christian (and decidedly virginal) Sergeant Howie. “I didn’t know anything about paganism,” Ekland tells us. Various theories about the exact identity of the voluptuous stand-in used for the scene have circulated for years, with the film’s music supervisor Gary Carpenter saying it was a stripper from Glasgow named Lorraine Peters. Ekland, who was outraged enough at the time about both the dubbing and the body double that she didn’t want to talk about the film for years, more or less concurs. In the film, Sergeant Neil Howie ( Edward Woodward, Hot Fuzz) travels from the mainland to the Scottish island of Summerisle to investigate the disappearance of a young girl. The devout Christian is appalled to learn that the islanders practice a form of paganism characterized by blasphemous beliefs, degeneracy, doublespeak, and peculiar customs. Like The Bride of Frankenstein, the namesake doesn’t show up until the final moments of the film, but it leaves an indelible impression long after the credits roll. Posted by Phil on Sep 21, 2023 in All, drama, DVD/Blu-ray, fantasy, Film, horror, News, thriller | 0 comments I don’t think I was the only one [who felt this way],” says Ekland about the movie’s financial problems. “The general feeling was that this was very difficult to shoot and there wasn’t a lot of money. I think there are problems with the finances at some point. Not that it affected me, but I just kind of heard that.” Ekland’s Problems Were All Behind Her

FIVE NIGHTS in Three Dimensions– FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S takes a two-dimensional game and turns it into a three-dimensional nightmare. Ekland also recalls that both leading men, Woodward and Lee, were somewhat distant during the shoot. “Christopher was incredibly serious with this film. He loved this film. He thought that it was the best thing he ever did,” she says. But she has put her own feelings at the time about their chilly relationship, the chilly locations, and the cold way the filmmakers replaced both her voice and her posterior, all behind her and has embraced the movie’s stature as one of horror’s finest achievements. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Studiocanal are proud to release a newly restored 4K version of the 2011 Final Cut of the film.
