Description

Leonardo is the battle-proven dive computer and it has gone through extensive operation by users all over the world. Meanwhile, Donatello, although popular in its right, hasn’t gone through the same scrutiny.

The Cressi RGBM algorithm is well established and will ensure your safety when diving. It’s one of the most conservative models out there, which means you may hit your NDL sooner than your buddy if they’re diving with a different brand of computer (unless they use a Suunto!). Diving with nitrox gas mixture allows you to increase bottom times or reduce the risk of decompression illness. However, when the gas mix is altered or depth increased, the oxygen partial pressure is generally increased. The Cressi Donatello provides you with information to adjust your dive and stay within safe limits. In addition to diving on air, the Donatello gives you the option of using enriched air. As it’s geared to recreational divers, the options are basic but do allow you to have one Nitrox mix up to 50% oxygen. To ensure you stay well within the safety margins regarding oxygen toxicity, you can also adjust the PPO2 (partial pressure of oxygen) levels between 1.2 and 1.6 bar (17.4 to 23.2 psi). Overall quality of dive data display, including selection, layout and presentation of data, with a focus on how clearly it presents critical dive information In this setup, Cressi combined the Donatello dive computer with an air-pressure and depth gauge. The console is connected to your regulator to monitor the pressure in your tank. It informs you of how much air remains in your scuba tank – How Long Does a Scuba Tank Last When You Dive Underwater? Three-Gauge Console

Lastly, the Donatello has a significantly better battery life. You can expect the battery to last around twice as long as with the Leonardo. Both dive computers allow you to change the battery yourself. Connecting the Leonardo to your PC at home required an adapter and cable. You plugged the scuba diving computer into your PC and transferred your dive log. You still need an optional adapter on the Donatello, but you don’t need any cables anymore. The adapter adds Bluetooth capabilities, and you can wirelessly connect the scuba watch to your PC or smartphone to transfer the data.

The Donatello element of the consoles is the same as the wrist-mounted version. The display and navigation are the same. The difference is that the dive computer is mounted in a console instead of wearing it on your wrist. Two-Gauge Console This scuba computer boasts a configuration system for altitude diving. It is complemented by the safety stop indicators, which alerts scuba divers of three to five-minute stops before their final ascent to the surface. Lastly, this freediving computer notifies you of a possible violation in maximum depth, ascent speed, and PPO2. These safety features make the Cressi Donatello Wrist Computer an all-around gear for watersports enthusiasts. Freediving ModeOver the years, the Suunto dive computers have evolved, and the D4i Novo is a mark of that evolution. The D4i is a lightweight style computer which high durability. The durability doesn’t take away the stylishness of this technology. It comes with a comfortable strap, and it is compact looking. Product Review

Don’t be fooled, though. You still get a tremendous entry-level dive computer that is specifically catering to beginner divers. That’s not only reflected in the features but also the price. Modes When you are replacing the battery, do not insert the battery perpendicularly. Instead, keep the tab of the battery holder before tightening the cover.Cressi’s freediving computer also shows the CNS toxicity level of oxygen. This feature is most beneficial for technical divers who stay for extended periods underwater. It is worth noting that an increase in depth also contributes to CNS toxicity. Hence, a clear indicator of the oxygen toxicity level helps to keep technical divers safe underwater. Buyers of this technological device enjoy the screen layout and the intuitive menu, making reading and navigation easy. It has an impressive memory for its price with a 35-hour dive log accessibility. In addition, you can update the firmware and replace the battery without problems. Plus, linking this device to your phone is more accessible as it comes with a Bluetooth clip connector. Pros The three-gauge console includes a Cressi Compass that is beneficial for every dive. Scratch-resistant polycarbonate material is the main component of the provided compass. Moreover, it comes with a ratcheted bezel that you can rotate easily, even if you’re wearing gloves. The Mares Quad is simple to use. The four buttons that come with it and are adequately labelled allows for easy navigation. In addition, the large screen and deco dive display which displays data clearly, aids with underwater visibility. With the ability to see your dive time display, nitrox menu and icon for switching gas, you can feel safe when diving. When you now throw in the decompression dive organizer, you have a more than ensured memorable experience while diving. Pros ScubaLab staff also tested computers in a bench-top compression chamber to observe screen displays, warnings and alarms in conditions not suitable for testing by divers, such as rapid ascents and missed deco stops. The goal of these tests is to gauge how well each computer performed in providing clear, understandable guidance in those conditions. Objective Test Protocol

The Donatello gives several different and distinct audible and visual alarms to inform you of vital information while diving. A maximum depth alarm can be set by the user and the safety stop alarm reminds divers to make a stop before the last ascent to the surface.Overall, the Donatello is an improvement on its predecessor. Cressi will still continue selling the Leonardo and it’s likely to come in at a lower price point. However, if you are looking for a new, modern dive computer that uses improved technology, the Donatello is the more sophisticated of the two. Overall Design and Display You use a dive computer by correctly reading the data provided in big digits on the dive computer screen. These data are: No Stop Limits The Cressi RGBM algorithm is an adaptation of Suunto’s model, which has a reputation for being quite conservative. Cressi’s algorithm is based on a nine tissue compartment model using saturation half-times between 2.5 and 480 minutes. It allows for safe decompression calculations for repetitive dives over multiple days. As we looked at above, users can adjust the level of conservatism should they wish. They can also add or remove deep and safety stops. What Does This Mean for the Diver? Cressi not only features the wrist-mounted version of the Donatello but also has two console variants available. You can get the Donatello in a console mount with either two or three gauge options.
