Installation: Stainless steel, nylon coated wire is attached to stainless steel posts and tensioned using springs How it Works: Nylon-coated spring-tensioned stainless steel wire is attached to stainless steel posts at differing heights and intervals, the bases are drilled into the surface or glued on If you are in need of a fast, effective way of keeping birds from roosting and nesting on your property, then a bird wire system certainly fits the bill. Discrete yet efficient, these pest bird wire systems are suitable for protecting ledges, parapets, signs, beams, architectural features, and more. These systems are typically made up of two or more thin steel wires, which are kept tense to present a strong physical barrier between the pest birds and the ledge. The wires get in the birds’ way and prevent them from landing as they normally would. When presented with such a barrier, they will usually just give up and fly off somewhere else. Even if they do make their way through the wires, the birds will find that they are extremely uncomfortable sitting there and likewise abandon the ledge for a more agreeable perch. Eco's Bird Wire is one of the most discrete and widely used anti-perching systems available in the UK. It is effective to prevent both feral pigeons and gulls from perching on the ledges and parapets of buildings. The components used for the pigeons and gulls differ in that larger and more robust components are required for gulls.

Bird wire is installed onto ledges and window sills and is often a preferred solution for our customers due to how discreet it looks. Wire solutions have been known to last if maintenance is performed and the posts are tightened, resulting in them being a cost-effective bird proofing solution. Therefore, if you’re business under threat from seagulls, pigeons or any other birds, the wire might just be the perfect solution to protect your building. What is bird wire? If you’re searching for a low-profile, yet eco-friendly bird deterrent solution, look no further. Bird prevention wire from Bird-X repels pests naturally and does not make a big visual impact or distract from the aesthetics of the building when viewed from ground level. Bird wire is also a less aggressive-looking method of preventing flying pests compared to bird spikes, which due to their constructive nature, appear far less humane.

Post and Wire is a discreet, low visual impact solution that is ideal for use on high profile buildings and structures where effectiveness versus appearance is a factor that must be carefully considered. Our team of experienced Project Managers and nationwide Installers and Technicians are able to provide you with bespoke, professional advice and service to create a Bird Deterrent solution that works for you and your buildings. In addition to nylon-coated wire we also supply bird coil systems . This is another discreet ledge-proofing solution and is easy to install.Bird-Coil can easily be cut down to suit different ledge lengths. When installing you must ensure the gaps between each coil do not exceed 40mm and that the coil hangs over the ledge by approx. 12mm. Each 33 cm moulded strip can hold up to 11 posts. This system means the first post is taken right up to the very front of the leading edge to be protected, even if the ledge is rounded or part-missing. Any small sections that are uneven or damaged are simply bypassed and supported by the rest of the base.

The posts are available in various sizes and stainless-steel split pins can be used to fix the wire into window reveals. The posts, springs, wires and split pins are made of corrosion resistant 316-grade stainless steel. The patented base has anti-topple stabilisers to prevent the posts from inward collapse. If a large bird attempts to land on the wires, the force of the bird is shared down the length of the strip and the anti-topple stabilisers, making it impossible for the Defender® Bird Post and Wire system to collapse in on itself. As the manufacturer of Defender® Bird Spikes, Jones and Son Pest Control Supplies Ltd, we keep a close eye on the quality of the bird control products we produce. All our pigeon control products are made from high-quality materials such as Durolon; a UV Stabilised Polycarbonate, and 304 Grade Stainless Steel for the pins, which makes for an incredibly reliable bird control solution. The wires are usually held in position by vertically mounted stainless steel posts, but numerous other fittings have been developed to enable the system to be used in many different situations. Defender® Post and Wire Strips are the favourite bird-proofing system recommended by architects, especially on listed and historic buildings. The reason for this is due to the low visibility of the wire from the ground. Traditionally, Post and Wire was a complicated system that required drilling and specialist tools. However, Defender® Post and Wire negates the need for all specialist knowledge and equipment.

An almost invisible tensioned Bird Wire system to prevent birds perching without damaging the aesthetics or construction of the building.

Remember the bases can be easily made smaller by snapping between your fingers so every size length ledge or space can be fully protected.

An almost invisible tensioned Bird Wire system to prevent birds perching without damaging the aesthetics or construction of the building. Previous bird wire systems were notoriously difficult and complicated to install and required professional bird control technicians to put them into position. These systems required precise measuring, drilling, and specialist tools. The Defender® Bird Post and Wire Holder has been designed to simplify installation and make it accessible for all property owners. Why should I use a post and wire system? Snappable Sections There are 11 breakable sections along the base of the Defender® Bird Post and Wire system that can simply be snapped apart with your fingers to shorten the strip if required. The bird wire strip is then just glued into position. It is important that your bird wire system is installed correctly, and it takes some planning to set it all up. You will have to monitor your nuisance bird problem to see where the roosting and nesting is so you are able to place your bird wire in the most effective place. Here are some tips on how to install your bird wire. Make sure to read the product’s instructions carefully for full directions.A big allure to using this type of bird deterrent versus another is that bird wire is difficult to see, and does not make a big visual impact or detract from the aesthetics of the building. It is a long lasting product and doesn’t require much maintenance if installed properly. How To Use Bird Wire Post and Wire systems are Ideal for use on ledges, parapets, signs, beams, parapet copings, pipes, hand rails, gutters & roof ridges etc The Defender® Bird Post and Wire Holder system comes in pre-formed 33 cm strips complete with 11 posts. Using a full strip means the first post can be positioned on the front of the leading edge, and the posts behind it will be perfectly spaced so no measurements are needed. The strip itself adds stability to the posts and also bypasses any sections of the ledge that might be uneven or damaged. It is fixed onto a ledge using silicone, ensuring there is no damage to the stonework. Traditional install methods would drill into the ledge, which can cause water ingress and splitting. How can post and wire systems protect large flat roofs? The post and wire system should be installed properly by a professional bird pest controller, since the wires need to be positioned and tensioned correctly for the system to be effective. It can be installed onto virtually any surface that will support the vertical posts. This includes metal and concrete structures, as well as roof ridges, making the anti-perching system suitable for many applications. Moreover, the longevity of bird control wire makes it a cost-effective solution.

Eco’s Bird Wire System consists of a fine, nylon-coated, spring-tensioned stainless-steel wire supported by stainless steel posts, which are fixed into stonework using nylon anchor rivets. Bird wire is made of a coated steel wire that can be strung up on ledges and other bird-prone surfaces. On wide ledges, multiple rows of wire can be employed. For tension, wire can be attached to stainless steel posts that allow the wire to remain taut. These wires do not allow birds to perch or land on their favorite flat surfaces. Bird wire systems are made from spring tensioned stainless steel wire attached to posts at the edge of the ledge or window sill; these posts are securely fixed to avoid them becoming loose. Very Discreet: Birdwire is one of the least visible of all ledge products and is frequently used on high-visibility ledges where aesthetics are important Step 2 – Spacing: Work out where you are going to place the strips - 2 rows of strips is ample to use for a ledge up to 2 metres long. The strips are placed with the double-headed post as close to the leading edge as possible with the anti-topple feet pointing towards each other to aid stability. If the width is smaller or wider than a strip, it can simply be broken into smaller pieces or additional pieces added to the row.Bird Wire is a post and wire system that provides an unstable landing area for pigeons, seagulls, or crows. When birds try to land on the wire, the unique spring wire system will create a sensation of instability, causing the birds to move on to a more stable landing area.Nylon Coated Bird Wire is a core component of the Bird Wire System. The coated wire is suspended between bird wire posts to prevent large birds from landing.Bird Wire is a low profile bird deterrent system ideal for handrails, ledges, rooftops, parapet walls and other areas large birds are landing.
