An alternate version of Moon Knight appears in S.H.I.E.L.D. #1. This is an ancient Egyptian version of Moon Knight during the days of the Brotherhood of the Shield. This version is similar in appearance to the Khonshu statue that Marc Spector worshiped in the past. He can be seen holding a staff that has a crescent moon at the top. Khonshu, Taweret, and Ammit's costumes were made for each character, despite each being CGI characters. [105] [99] To create Khonshu's costume, Kasperlik read previous comics and researched various types of fabrics and how she could make it tattered. She used six different types of fabrics that were all hand-sewn and stretched so the actor could wear it comfortably. A custom leather collar and leather strips were added over the chest area to emphasize his symbol, while a belt, which was sculpted and molded, also goes around his waist. [101] The practical costume pieces for Taweret consisted of a scarab, breastplate, gold bracelets, "several layers of feathers that plumed out", and hieroglyphs carved into various elements, with Salib calling Taweret "a very fashionable goddess". Salib also wore platform shoes to mimic hippo feet as well as a motion capture pole to aid in the extra height of the character. [38] Given Taweret is the goddess of childbirth and fertility, her headpiece features the birthing dance and prayer of ancient Egypt, [105] which was a replica of a piece of Egyptian artwork. Much of her costume was constructed by in-house leather works and metalsmiths. Both Khonshu and Taweret had their prayers and oaths incorporated into the various symbolisms on their costumes. Filming was expected to begin in March 2021, [108] [109] and was confirmed to be underway by the end of April in Hungary. [110] The series was filmed under the working title Good Faith, [111] [112] with Diab directing the first, third, and final two episodes and Benson and Moorhead directing the second and fourth. [8] Moorhead explained that he and Benson were "handed" the second and fourth episodes to direct, in part because of logistical reasons, but also because each of the episodes were designed to have "its own voice", though the first two episodes connect a little more closer to each other because the creatives were still "figuring out the production" then. He continued that the location of the fourth episode was "very much its own thing", allowing the duo to "cordon off a little bit", while the final two episodes are "their own voice from each other and from the rest of the episodes". [58] Gregory Middleton was the cinematographer for Diab and Andrew Droz Palermo served the role for Benson and Moorhead. [85] [13] :24–25 Soundstage work occurred at Origo Studios in Budapest. [13] :8 The series was previously expected to begin filming on November 16, 2020, to last for 26 weeks, but this was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [109] [112] Filming occurred at the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest in April, [110] which served as exteriors for London's National Gallery, [13] :10 and in Szentendre at the beginning of May. [113] In early June, outdoor night scenes were filmed at Madách Square in Budapest. [114] Various exterior locations in Budapest were found to stand-in for London, particularly the Brixton and Soho areas. The MCU versions of Marc Spector / Moon Knight and Steven Grant / Mr. Knight appear as meet-and-greet characters at Avengers Campus. [208] [209] A new ongoing series, Moon Knight vol. 5, was launched in April 2006, written by Charlie Huston with art by David Finch. [13] The series revises Marc Spector's history by saying he fought in the Gulf War. Starting with issue #14 of this series, [14] Mike Benson took over writing duties while Huston acted as a story/plot adviser according to Benson. [15] The 2006 series ended with #30 (July 2009), and only one Annual issue for the series was printed in 2008. Peter Milligan wrote a 2008 seasonal one-shot titled Moon Knight: Silent Knight with artist Laurence Campbell. [16] Vengeance of the Moon Knight [ edit ] Moon Knight learns from Spider-Man that Jeff Wilde AKA Midnight is alive, now operating as a cyborg warrior for the Secret Empire. Believing Wilde is not in his right mind and can be redeemed, Moon Knight tries to rescue him, fighting the Secret Empire alongside the heroes Spider-Man, Darkhawk, the Punisher, Nova and Night Thrasher. Encouraged by his nurse Lynn Church (whom he is now in love with), Wilde attempts a coup so he can lead the Secret Empire. During a final climactic battle, Wilde realizes that Lynn Church has been manipulating him and sees him as a weapon. Once again feeling betrayed by those he put faith in, Wilde destroys the Secret Empire's main base in New York City, seemingly killing himself and Church in the process. Moon Knight once again mourns Wilde, regretting that he did not know how to reach the young man. [56] How the young girl in the museum would know this is a mystery. The likeliest explanation is that she's a figment of Steven's imagination, and he's remembering what happened to Spector. Or perhaps she simply has some foresight. Vary, Adam B. (May 27, 2021). In 1985, Marvel retooled the character with a new 6-issue mini-series Moon Knight by Alan Zelenetz and Chris Warner. The mini-series was titled "Fist of Khonshu". Only the first 4 issues were written by Zelenetz, the final two issues were each written by a different author. Along with giving Moon Knight new Egyptian-themed weaponry, this mini-series reveals that Marc Spector's strength now increases in accordance to the phases of the moon. Marlene Alraune – An archaeologist, her father is murdered by Raoul Bushman. She meets and is saved by Marc hours before his first resurrection at the hands of Khonshu. Despite her initial belief that Khonshu is not real, she supports Marc's career as Moon Knight, becoming his advisor and aid as well as his lover, carrying his daughter Diatrice Alraune. Later, she believes Khonshu is real but still encourages Moon Knight to leave violence behind and live fully as either Marc Spector or Steven Grant. The two separate on multiple occasions. [35] After leaving the US military, Spector temporarily works for the Roxxon Corporation as Paladin. After leaving Roxxon's employ, Spector's Moon Knight alter takes more control and begins operating as a vigilante in New York City. During this time, Spector lives with his girlfriend Marlene Alraune, who is aware he has DID and that one of his alters is the vigilante Moon Knight. During a gang war between the crime lord Kingpin and newcomer gangster Hammerhead, [153] Moon Knight is seriously wounded by the assassin Elektra but escapes to safety. He then encounters the vigilantes Punisher, Spider-Man, and Daredevil. Later on, Daredevil invites Moon Knight to join an organization of superheroes dedicated to bringing down the Kingpin. [154] Spector accepts and then decides to infiltrate the Kingpin's ranks. Opposing how much control the Moon Knight persona has, the personalities of Steven Grant and Marc Spector create a new alter named Ronin to take command, a ruthless warrior who would be more easily welcomed into Kingpin's organization. The Moon Knight alter opposes this decision, only to then be seemingly destroyed by the new Ronin alter. It is later revealed the Moon Knight alter is not gone, only buried and in a state mirroring unconsciousness. [155] For transportation, Moon Knight employs a variety of sophisticated aircraft such as the Mooncopter and the Angelwing, a mini-jet featuring VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) and 20mm cannons. At times, Moon Knight has also used a white, customized motorcycle, a remote-controlled white limousine, and a remote-controlled crescent-shaped drone/glider capable of carrying a single person.
