I've watched it again and again to try and figure out what is happening for the last 10 minutes of the movie, and I finally understand. But a double dose of three-month colic and a half-absent husband is squeezing the life out of this new mum. Luckily, the ending did pick up a little in the last 80 pages or so and I think the ending was the best part of the book (even though I did predict one of the plot twists, but there were other twists I didn’t see coming) but overall I have very meh feelings toward this one. I won't say any more than that, but this one was incredibly hard to put down after I picked it up and was incredibly fast-paced from the first sentence on!

But the seeds of suspicion have been sown, and Stephanie begins to mistrust her husband, and to investigate his past herself.

Her story and what she was going through, both with her baby girls and with Patrick’s investigation, felt real and drew me into the story. Erica blackmails them because she already did her homework and she knows about inheritance money of Stephanie and she wants her cut for her silence not to talk to the police for reopening the murder case. She'll carry them inside for their afternoon nap, still asleep, one after the other, leaving one alone in the locked car while she carries the other in. He could have been developed slightly more however, as the story closed without giving a full picture of the type of person he is.A deftly crafted and expertly paced thriller that will keep readers guessing (and terrified) until the very end. That is a massive shame because there were definitely a number of positive aspects, especially the level of suspense, but the ending was such that it caused irretrievable damage.
